I watched the game online. And the games vs French and vs Belgium. I heard people saying this China womens team is probably the best they had in long while , maybe ever. There is long drought of 28 years I think of big international medal. It’s a young team too so future is bright. What I really was amazed by when I saw them play is the defensive intensity , wow I thought they really out competed their rivals In this and the offensive side, they were really lightning quick in fast breaks. So fun to watch.

At first I didn’t realise it was in Sydney lol, I was wondering seems like home support. Then the Aus commentator said it was at Homebush stadium. Funny thing is it gets brought up quite alot during the auschina game.
the local Chinese media played up the crowd aspect , saying flags were almost sold out before the game and Aus media is bitter Lol

nice to see the support from Chinese fans although I have a bit of mixed feeling that there still so many Chinese in australia.

Looking at the faces of the spectators, the game was pretty high-tension to the end.

It was really close at the end. China was leading at third quarter by 7(?) points but Aus fought back and game was tied at 55 each I think at the end. The Aus player made a dumb foul and rest is history. Nail biting finish though, exciting game to watch. I enjoyed it.

Much better than the last Olympic games when they led Serbia by about 9 points in third quarter but lost eventually. They was heartbreaking. I just say the new coach appointed really upped the level of the team, no wonder they are so happy with her, did that group celebratory tossing in the air thing t after the game.

Beating US is a tough ask though. They already lost to them in group phase.

New coach help, I'm seeing Yao Ming effort are bearing fruits as old coaches are being replaced with more competent one with new ideas, they also recruited foreign coaches the European variety instead of American. We're now instilling the European style of playing instead of copying American power play which suited us more.

Yes I think the new female coach zheng wei really brought the team to a higher level since the Olympics. Yao was actually in Sydney and watched their games. While I don't know how much input or influence he have directly on the women's team. I am hoping the men's team can also see the same improvement.

I didn't realize there are still foreign coaches in the Chinese national team setup. I thought they went in other direction. They use to hire mostly foreign head coaches back during the days when Yao was still playing. But now the head coaches for both men's and womens teams are Chinese.

The men's team used to coached by Lithuanian during Yao days, I think they experimented with both euro and NBA styles.
