Self Propelled Gun/Rocket Launcher

Is this their first try? if so, it sure is impressive. Now that they are sure it can work, the remaining task is to finetune the targeting. Either the engineers finding ways to improve the rocket CEP and/or improved training for the troops responsible for the MLRS.

also, are they using guided/unguided rockets?
I'm pretty sure all 300mm and 370mm rocket artillery rounds are guided. The longer your range the greater the CEP for unguided rockets, so large calibre rocket artillery round would all have unusable CEP given their range if not guided.

They are guided. Unguided rockets would have very little chance of hitting a moving target at a distance.

Is this for "Coastal Defense" or is it Taiwan?
That ship doesn't look particularly big which means they are trying hitting corvette size targets (although the speed is unknown)?
Coincidence this video surfaces when the new Tuo Ching was shown off?

Basics of Artillery class in 2003...
Q: What's the difference between a rocket and a missile?
A: Guidance

It's really just cost now. Read somewhere that they are using INS and Beidou as guidance. Has the proliferation of smartphones has made the cost of adding MEMS gyro/accelerometer and GNSS interfaces trivial?
Missiles become differentiated by more exotic IIR and Active Radar seekers.

I read over at PDF that PLA call it the BMW launcher cuz it each rocket costs $100k apparently.

. The target appears stationary or very slow moving. So this appears far less impressive than I had initially believed. Also, now I'm not even 100% sure that this was a target on water.
So it could very well be a stationary/ slow moving land target? That would be disappointing after the welcome surprise...

Yes indeed. The images I posted were video screen captures re-shared by a Weibo user. According to the red annotations in the images, the target was a moving boat. I took his word for it because 1) both the Weibo poster and the originator of the images are not known to be untrustworthy, and 2) I assumed the originator had watched the complete video – which I do not have access to in order to independently verify – and understood what he was looking at.

I will independently verify with my own eyes once I find the complete, high quality video. It might a moving target boat, but the quality of the animated GIF is too low to call it definitively.

Part of why there are much more guided munitions in China is because of the completion of Beidou 3, the other half is because China managed to cabbagelise laser gyroscope.
