What’s we got was simply ordinary. Maybe, a 4.125 gen fighter. So, maybe it replaced the MiG 4.12
Come on man, thats too low for this forum. The aircraft is obviously a 5th gen aircraft.

Now if you want we can discuss if it is a "true" 5th gen or a 5- gen aircraft.

Going on by how cheap it is I would say it is a 5-(minus) gen aircraft which should be enough for Russia's and other countries' needs

Nice image of frontal view. Is this a DSI inlet or not? Bump is not apparent from the front and there appears to be a divider, which is odd because the aircraft only has one engine.

The intake looks distinctly too small for an aircraft with a supposedly 18 ton class engine.

How did it get the name "Checkmate" for such a new fighter? This doesn't sound like a NATO assigned code name which should have its name starting with "F". Did Sukhoi come up with that on its own?

UAC came up with the name to hype up the presentation as a marketing stunt. No production aircraft have been produced or have entered service so it is unlikely we’ll see a NATO designation anytime soon.

One senior Sukhoi exec explained it (apparently!) as given the name Checkmate because the Su-57 is akin to a queen on a chessboard, the most capable and "valuable" piece (only in terms of strategic hardware lol) but not to be used so lightly and isn't as numerous as another like the knight. That's also why they used the knight in the promo.

Checkmate I'm guessing is in reference to capturing a market and providing a sound counter to fighter development in the US, China, Korea, and Europe. As in it is capable of ending this game because it is capable of doing xyz for under a certain cost.

2023 first flight and 2025 finishing up testing? I imagine around 2030 intro into airforce/s.

You know well that NATO codename will begin with "F". Checkmate is marketing name for now and probably not even program name given by Sukhoi or Russians.

Looks to be heavily export oriented. VKS going in would be a coin flip for now.

Any word on how many of these Russia is capable of producing a year?

Prototype for static testing -> test flight prototypes -> evaluation and amendments -> re-test^n -> final version realised running with production being set up near parallel to this prototyping and testing cycle -> Orders and budgeting -> unit price -> production lines set up -> production rate. And literally half a million other peripheral things. I don't think it's easy to answer how many is Russia planning to produce per year until around 2030. Their timeline suggests 2025 to 2030 where this sort of detail can be ascertained.
