I believe they said they've also got to shoot it and it was accurate. I do not believe they will hand someone a simple"toy" for testing.

He even stated his disappointment on how these toys can't be sold to the domestic market; do you think this point to the fact that there's a ban on realistic looking toy gun in china to avoid using it for crime, or do you think the author is so radical for suggesting that civilian should own a real gun?
On the toy? No, he just gets to grip/touch it and it feels real. He tests the real gun.

I think he means that there were 2 versions of the gun at the factory... one is the real thing and the other is the ‘training toy’... they tested a real gun but there was also description of the ‘training toy’

I wonder if by the "standard" version he is talking about the version we've seen the most (the "carbine") or if he's referring to the longer barrel/assault rifle variant that we've had much less photos of and seems to be in circulation less or at least received less exposure.
