PLAN Combat Information Centers (CIC) and Display Consoles

I recall the pics I got it from were in a video of the newly delivered 056 variant corvettes for Algeria, though the possibility of splicing footage is there.

However Algeria has also previously bought C28A corvettes from China but those were a few years ago and would have used the older CIC type.

Are the pictures you posted confirmed of the new 056 variant corvettes or is it possible that they are the older C28As?

Surely the new Chinese CICs have stations with bolted-down seats.

Can't image how they can fight a real battle with high-speed turns and tilts while sitting on.....roller chairs.

Hey guys,

If I get that right, ZBT-1 CIC would be aboard patrol boats, ZKJ-1 aboard frigates, and ZBJ-1 would be aboard aircraft carriers.

However, Jane's C4ISR: Martitmime 2015-2016 mentions that ZBJ system would be aboard Type 052C/D too.

Does that mean I got it wrong, or that Type 052 might also be used as a Command & Control ship?

Does anybody else think the vertical monitor alignment is a little weird looking? It's not really a common way to organize displays and the gap between each monitor is quite large. If you've ever played with a multi-monitor set-up that can be quite annoying, though I guess each monitor may just have a fixed output in this case.

About the only benefit I can think of for this layout is space saving? Otherwise I would think a triple monitor set-up aligned horizontally would be more desirable.

What do others here think?

That's probably why the new prototypes in research papers and defense show promotional videos are triple monitor set-ups aligned horizontally.

The researchers probably took a page from their work desk, realizing a horizontal setup where you look left & right is easier on the neck than a vertical setup where you look up & down like in the current setup.

That makes sense. Though aligning the monitors vertically does look like it saves space and allows you to store more consoles closer together.

I think it is interesting that if you look CIC's across nations they are basically homogenizing their designs outside of space or legacy ship design constraints. I was impressed by how modern the CIC for USS Mason is when it was shown on CBS recently. So even older ships can be retrofitted to have more modern layouts.
