Acting Navy Secretary Hung Cao told senators that the U.S. has paused a $14 billion arms sale to Taiwan to ensure enough munitions are available for the Trump administration’s war with Iran, referred to as “Epic Fury.” He said the U.S. still has “plenty” of missiles and interceptors, and that Taiwan sales would resume when the administration decides.
Sen. Mitch McConnell expressed concern, especially because Cao’s explanation appears to differ from President Trump’s earlier suggestion that the Taiwan arms sale might be used as a negotiating tool with China. That raises questions because U.S. policy under the Six Assurances says Washington should not consult China on arms sales to Taiwan.
The article also highlights broader concerns that the Iran war has drained U.S. weapons stockpiles, including cruise missiles, Tomahawks, Patriot interceptors, and ground-based missiles. The White House is reportedly preparing to request $80 billion to $100 billion from Congress to replenish weapons and support the war effort. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth has dismissed concerns about shortages, saying the issue is being overstated.
Taiwanese officials are urging the U.S. to continue arms sales, arguing that a stronger Taiwan is necessary to deter possible Chinese aggression.
Damn, is there anything trump gave in concession then during that meeting? This makes it sound like they can still give taiwan the package and not an outright no.

So... What's going to happen to all that money ROC already paid?
Acting Navy secretary: Taiwan weapons sales paused to ensure munitions for Iran war
Summary:
No side gave anything meaningful in that meeting.
It was a complete nothingburger, which is what everyone expected when the meeting was first raised as a possibility.
Eh, I don't think it was a nothingburger. You could say it was mostly symbolic, but symbolism matters a lot in such a geopolitical age.
I think the perception has shifted from "this is a huge meeting" to "didn't expect much to happen and not much has happened", but eventually in retrospect it may be "that was actually pretty big"
Taiwan's military sales have always been delayed multiple times and at inflated prices before they can actually get defective weapons, so this one more time won't make a difference.So... What's going to happen to all that money ROC already paid?
I figured Trump and co would take the money then play dumb and don't deliver. I didn't expect them to not only not deliver but also spit in their face.
Lai is going to cope some more shit from pan-blue because of this.
