The RAN currently has three Hobart-class destroyers with 48 Mk41 VLS each and seven Anzac-class frigates with 8 Mk41 VLS each.
That brings the total VLS count in at 200 VLS cells as opposed to the Type 055's 112 cells.
If they had an extra Type 055 or two Type 052Ds more, then that statement would be true (like in the photos of the previous page).
On March 30, 2026, at approximately 3:00 PM, the JMSD confirmed three Chinese Navy vessels: a Luyang III-class guided-missile destroyer (hull number "119"), a Renhai-class guided-missile destroyer (hull number "102"), and a Fuchi-class replenishment ship (hull number "903"), sailing northeast in the waters approximately 80 km northwest of the Goto Islands (Nagasaki Prefecture).
Subsequently, from March 30 to March 31, these vessels were confirmed to have sailed northeast through the Tsushima Strait towards the Sea of Japan.
Furthermore, at approximately 4:00 PM on March 30, the JMSDF confirmed a Chinese Navy Luyang III-class guided-missile destroyer (hull number "120") sailing eastward in the waters approximately 160 km west of the Goto Islands. Subsequently, from Monday the 30th to Tuesday the 31st, it was confirmed that the vessel proceeded northeast through the Tsushima Strait and sailed towards the Sea of Japan.
The Ministry of Defense and the Self-Defense Forces conducted surveillance and intelligence gathering using the Maritime Self-Defense Force's 3rd Patrol and Defense Squadron's "Ootaka" (Sasebo) and the 1st Air Group's "P-1" (Kanoya).
