anyway the attack was tactically interesting: I wouldn't have thought it possible for this type of VIP to be so easily iced

amusingly, there's Iran connection here:
"Meng, 47, was arrested at the Vancouver International Airport on Dec. 1 at the request of the United States, where she is charged with bank fraud and accused of misleading the bank HSBC (

He was traveling in the open, and even an armored car wouldn’t be able to stand up to a hellfire missile. He seemed to have felt that the US wouldn’t touch him or if they did it would be a catch and release. There is a history of that.
On December 21st 2006 JSOC raided the compound of the Suprime Council of the Islamic Revolution in Iraq and detained Iranian Brigader General Mohsen Chirazi then head of Quds in Iraq and his chief of operations in Baghdad.they were held for 9 days. It was during the hunt for EFPs. There was also the Irbil five incident again catch and release although the five were held for much longer.
In both cases Iran and the Iraqi’s placed pressure to release the detainees. A drone strike on a terror group VIP is common these days. But the Quds Commander seems to have felt his uniform protected him from such.

what I meant, but didn't say Today at 11:43 AM, was Iranians and/or Iraqis have rat(s) inside, me think (I don't want to bluff about a decoy convoy nearby or something, anyway the JSOC -- if it was them -- apparently knew)

Soleimani travelled on a civilian airliner and was always someone who would visit frontlines of battle with zero protection. He is not like American generals who hide in a underground bunker and order drone strikes on brown children from thousands of miles away. He is not like Occupier America that has to travel to occupied Iraq in secret and in darkness out of fear.

He was someone that craved martyrdom and he has got it. Now he will forever be immortalised as a martyr in Iranian culture.

In other news, US officials are openly contradicting Trump's claim that Soleimani was threatening US forces in Iraq as justification for the attack.

US tried to re-establish deterrence for some graffiti and broken windows of the outer perimeter of the embassy in Iraq (an embassy the size of Vatican City, for reference) after they killed 25+ Iraqi anti-ISIS fighters. Unfortunately for them, they showed complete stupidity and lack of judgment in taking out Iran's top general in doing so. Now they are desperately trying to 'de-escalate' and contain the mess they have created for themselves.

Even in majority Arab Ahwaz in Iran there are hundreds of thousands coming to the streets to mourn Soleimani. Millions more across Kerman and Mashhad etc. Stupid Trump and Fat Pig Pompeo don't know what they're doing, they thought Iranians will welcome this and thank them? I never saw a more stupid and reckless bunch of government officials.

It looks like we all agreed that this is in fact a state-sponsored assisnation of a foreign leader.

Which is against US law passed by President Gerald Ford in 1976

Where's the rule of law brigade?
No a foreign leader would be the Ayatollah he was a combatant in a combat zone.
