I've noticed that China ( even State companies) uses industrial precision instruments sourced from German companies like Schenck.

Is it safe to presume that Balancing, measurements and precision are still a foreign supported endeavor in China? It looks like it.

Germany is absolutely dominating everything regarding industrial precision. Its not like other countries are sitting and waiting but Germany is just too far ahead on industrial equipment/instruments.

I am sure that China also has domestic companies for these things but the issue is the reliability and the accuracy of the measurements.

As another member said, for "normal" R&D you can use domestic, but anything that is "advanced" R&D where you need very accurate measurements then you "must" use foreign suppliers

Germany has been fine as a supplier for years thanks to Merkel's balancing policy but their upcoming election shows the CDU may lose.

If the greens come to power we should expect economic attacks from Germany to start
If a Greens led Deutschland want to go down the anglo crusade route, then europe can expect to be nothing more than a collection of backwater vassal states competing for the grace and largesse of China. A Greens led Deutschland would be nothing more than a bigger Sweden.

After 2025 when the EUVL is sorted out, this should be the next priority industrial policy target. Anything a Western country has that's outstanding, China must take.
Technologies are not silo'ed out with such neat boundaries. Cutting edge scientific instruments are undoubtedly used to design many of the tens and thousands of pieces that go into a EUV machine. And technologies like AI that use advanced chips are undoubtedly being used in turn to design more advanced scientific instruments. Which then are in turn used to make more advanced chips, and so on. The entire ecosystem works as a whole. China's technological level must therefore be raised as a whole as well, and it is an iterative process of part trial and error with physical limitations on how fast it can go. The task at hand for China is a lot harder than most people realize.

China is alot further along than most people realize, due to racism and hubris.

@FairAndUnbiased that's right bro with all due respect to @gadgetcool5 bro its 2021 what ever short coming the Chinese have they know they have to work harder and depend on themselves cause the trust is broken and the adversarial attitude prevailing in the West is a major motivating factor.
