This is what Democratic Party anti-China propaganda (especially from northern California) looks like. Give all the credit to the Chinese public and ignore the brilliant strategizing, planning, and execution of the government you're trying to undermine and eventually overthrow. Bait the hook for Chinese people who have pride in themselves and their peers, but who look down on, fear, and/or give minimal credit to their own government. It's a more sophisticated take on "we respect the Chinese people but are against the government". The reality is if China were a democracy in the 20th and 21st century, they'd be a completely infiltrated puppet state of the West. A mere shadow of its current self. With leaders that are all completely compromised and easily blackmailed. And policies that primarily serve Western interests.

It’s all projection. Since the U.S. government brims with corrupt and incompetent officials things must be a lot worse in an authoritarian regime like the PRC.

I acfually think ita the opposite. If china was a democracy i believe China will actually be much more hyper nationlistic and aggressive in her claims and soveriegnty. Just look at how the CCP has to sometimes limit some ultra nationalistic chinese online who often even demand more agressive policies and pubishments towards those countries who challenge chinas claims and when some clashes happens. If it was a popular democracy where Chinese people have to ellect a leader directly, im.afraid they would have voted a more populist nationalsitic leader in China at some point and probably a younger guy. Since leaders whould have had to pander to the common chinese demand and in so doing would have adooted a more radical policy to get elected depending on the piblic mood for such an action.
Democracy can be messy sometimes, not always in a good way.

China's rare earth export restrictions is beginning to sound like America's semiconductor and other tech restrictions. You can have access to the lower end stuff, but we are keeping the higher end stuff.

restricting people with knowledge of rare earth from going abroad and sharing their knowledge (like what us did with October surprise)

very interesting, it basically has stopped exporting raw and refined rare earth and just selling magnets at this point. Don't have mercy on magnet makers outside of China. They can give up trying to compete on the high end sphere.

the funny thing is, RE Magnates are so critical for high tech manufacturing you just cannot replace it. and recently China did impossible ''RE triple bond compounds'' breakthrough. which further increase China's lead in RE tech.

there is no short term solution but to request China..
