Impressive video.

Do you know if Huawei is using High Definition maps?

If it does then it would be a bit disappointing as it is really difficult to scale up with that method.
However by selling the car nationwide it might mean that they have a more robust and flexible method for scaling it to the whole China

Yes.

Seems the majority of AI driving solution (waymo , cruise) that is "working" involves hdmap. The one that is not really working and is not using hdmap is Tesla. I am guessing after the initial pass by the hdmapping car, future updates of the road are done by cars passing thru the area or it would at least tag the area for the hdmapping car to remap.

Thats non only him though. How many Chinese scientists do research on CERN?

Thats why CEPC should be a top priority. In addition to getting back these Chinese scientists from CERN, it can also attract foreign scientists to come in China and do their research in CEPC.

Win-Win for China

Time to pay up for CEPC, otherwise all this "scientific powerhouse" talk will be empty talk, for Particle Physics at least

Btw, China definetely has the money for CEPC
It is no only money but designing those special purpose machinery will take decades to do it. Because it is one of a kind and nobody built it before .Then you have to find skill craftsmen, factory, material etc. You don't create Rome in a day. China has to do it from scratch!

That's a gigantic investment for a supercomputer plus data center, even for space industry. It foretells the coming boom in Chinese space industry, both the state-sponsored space exploration activities and private sector commercial launches and satellites. The recent approval of

Anyone any idea how much funding the CAS (Chinese Academy of Sciences) receives in a given year like 2020 - 2021 and about the quality of their work?

The most comprehensive and authoritative measures for research productivity are the Nature Index. It's compiled by the respectable Nature journal annually. CAS is ranked as the world's #1 in quality publications among world-wide research institutions. Here is the latest (2020) ranking:

CAS has been consistently ranked as #1 by Nature for many years now. As for funding, you probably can find it somewhere, say Chinese government statistics, since it's a civilian institution.

it cross 3/4 million 5G station now halfway to 2 million station that will cover the country
China has made initial achievements in building the world's largest 5G mobile network, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) said Monday.
Apparently the top of the line Huawei basestation for 5G has 2 logic chips that are 7nm.

If the entire country needs 2 million or 3 million basestations for standalone 5G, then it would seem that Huawei has more than enough for the build out and for export.

Before the American restrictions on TSMC, Huawei was selling 50 million cell phones per quarter. Not all were top of the line using 7nm chips, but that does give us an indication of actual numbers for a stockpile.

If Huawei stockpiled 40-100 million 7nm chips from TSMC, that is enough to last for years, for base stations most definitely, and to stay in the game in high end phones.

Read that Huawei will come out with 3 different models of the foldable phone. Probably a limited edition, only available in China. Make that stockpile last for phones.

Having a stockpile that will last years, such as 3 or 4 years, means time to crank up the IC tech, for Huawei and for the country.

That is the fog of tech war. Huawei still has production and full speed ahead for the 5G in China, while American auto manufactures face a chip shortage and has stopped production temporarily with layoffs.

Thank you. Yeah, I cannot find the budget after searching for several times. Maybe some people can help?
