Recently, Yi Chenyi's team from the Department of Electrical Engineering of Tsinghua University achieved the world's highest efficiency record of 26.41% for perovskite solar cells by developing new hole transport materials combined with vacuum evaporation of perovskite films.
In the field of photovoltaic technology, perovskite solar cells (PSCs) have attracted widespread attention due to their outstanding power conversion efficiency (PCE) and low cost. Hole transport materials (HTM) are crucial to the photoelectric performance and long-term stability of PSCs. Its main function is to extract photogenerated holes and prevent electrons from returning, thereby inhibiting charge recombination. It can also serve as an interlayer to block the interaction between metal electrodes and calcium. Interdiffusion of ions between titanites.
The most widely used hole transport material at present, 2,2′,7,7′-tetra(N,N-di-p-methoxyaniline)-9,9′-spiro-OMeTAD, although It has efficient hole extraction ability and has good energy level matching with perovskite. However, the synthesis and purification process of this material is complicated and costly, which is not conducive to large-scale industrial application. In addition, the addition of commonly used additives such as lithium bistrifluoromethanesulfonyl imide (Li-TFSI) and 4-tert-butylpyridine leads to the existence of pinholes in the spiro-OMeTAD film. These holes provide channels for the interdiffusion of ions in the perovskite and metal atoms in the back electrode, which can easily lead to the formation of defects, thus adversely affecting the long-term stability of the device.

Thoughts on gene edited babies?
Is pretty subjective, which is less ethic, bring to this world a children with an horrible genetic disease, cure that children from that massive burden using gene technology or kill that children? personally I don't know what to answer. I guess as long is for some critical cases some people will be ok with it.
Also what is the likelyhood of there being secret human gene editing experiments going on in China right now?
Doubt it, the practice is banned in China, that is why he got arrested.

Yes because illegal things never happen... I doubt that his actions are that frowned upon in China, otherwise his jail time could have been way longer and he would have never been able to set up so many labs so fast after being released. Like if he had really angered the top brass, he would be lucky to have found work as a basic lab technician, let alone being able to open up 3 labs.

This tells me that the government and private sector supports his actions, if in secret. Also 3 years jail time isn't that much of a deterrence anyway.

IMHO they shouldn't have imprisoned him at all, it's a waste of talent. A disciplinary writeup would be enough.

Unless they have convicted him not for the gene editing, but (unofficially) for disclosing it...

This guy knowledge don't think is pretty widespread because this tech is seems pretty cutting edge stuff, There is secret labs in China were parents can make "super-babies"?

Personally I don't know. But in other to "secrets labs" to be profitable they would have do some publicity. Logic thinking, crazy thing, I know. So that would raise some attention and given how the GARBAGE WESTERN MAINSTREAM MEDIA talk about every single crap that happens in China, this will be in every single crappy news article in the west.


What your thoughts? We should try to cure kids with horrible genetic diseases with technology similar to this? We should let them live a miserable life? Or We should kill them?​
