The best they could do is import bans since technological dependency does not exist. But considering that Americans and their allies sell a substantial amount of cars in China but don't import a lot of Chinese cars that's not a game they should play.
The banning of tesla factory in China would be fun. But BYD and other EV makers need to ramp up their production capacity to more than 20 millions of EVs per year. The sales of Japanese cars in China are already decreasing rapidly.

@henrik bro with the current energy crisis I hope we reach an inflection point for EV, so yeah you're correct China need to increase its production to flood the market before protectionism kick in. EU is in a bind either they join the US or stay neutral BUT with Curesula Von Der Lying at the helm you never know what you gonna get.

About 30% of German brand vehicles are sold in China market. China should make use of this EV trend prudently, so that both Japanese and German car industries will be dealt a lesson.

Why would you want Tesla to be banned from China? They source over 90% of their parts locally. They export those Teslas to Europe and rest of APAC. They raised the profile of EVs in China, so people are buying EVs instead of legacy German/Japanese cars. Tesla/China partnership has worked about as well as anyone could've hoped.

More of Li Auto L9 launch from carnewschina. Chinese NEV makers are really going after the market dominated by the Germans.

Big export numbers out of China in May.

BYD unveils their New Zealand dealer network. Again, BYD is trying to expand internationally while it's still having trouble meeting domestic demands. I think at some point, it realizes that if its hits 25% market share domestically, that might be its ceiling. It has to expand internationally to keep expanding.

More BYD investment in IC industry. They have the capital now to invest as many companies as they can. They also don't have a target on their back like Huawei.

Tesla Giga Shanghai is stopping for a couple of days in early July to expand further. 2000 cars a day will mean a lot of exports.

BYD Ocean series dealer. Surprised they are still selling song+ DM-i even for Ocean Series dealer. Song+ series is really popular.

Dolphin compared to Ora good cat (which is $16k to $21k) and VW ID series and is cheaper than both. Again, that's great if you are BYD.

On a global level, we should all want zero-emission electric vehicles (irrespective of who makes them) to spread as fast as possible.

Tell that to US and EU politicians that ban solar panels from Xinjiang for political reasons. Why should China care about climate change when no one else does? Would love to see China destroy the conman running Tesla since he's been taking cheap shots at Tiktok recently.
