Recycling EV batteries.

I find an economic irony here. The politically incorrect batteries with Lithium, Nickel and Cobalt has a strong economic justification for recycling, because Lithium, Cobalt and Nickel and worth something. Yet the cheaper and more politically correct LiFePo (Lithium Iron Phosphate) which does not use Nickel and Cobalt, has a much harder time finding its economic justification in recycling with only Lithium being the valuable metal there.

Would love to buy one, Am in Canada, prices are horrendous for EVs.
I would 2nd, 3rd and 4th this.
I wanted to get an EV, but the price was sky high.

The premium for EV compared to ICE car just doesn't make sense. The Ontario government used to have very generous EV incentives, but rolled them all back. This was because there were basically 4 EVs/PHEVs that qualified Nissan Leaf, Tesla S/X, Chevy Volt, and Mitsubishi iMEV. Since the Tesla was the bestseller of these, basically the government was subsidizing millionaires.

Now that the EV selection has expanded, they have not come back to revisit the incentives.

I want to get an EV as well but I would like to wait until 2023 when a bunch of new models get released with updated tech.

way too many EV companies and way too many products to chose from. I think they need to promote Joint Venture, reduce subsidies to root out weak links and promote quality over cheap knock off EVs.
Are you talking about the domestic market in China?
Yes, I agree, too many glorified Golf carts being billed as EV's being propped up by provincial government subsidies.
However, I read a while back that the Central government will start to crack down on these bad subsidies to divert less money away from real players.

From what I know, actually, EV technology is easy compared to the combustion engine. What it makes is that making EV is not that hard, and you can make it even if you don't produce that particular car by yourself. An example is an NIO which is made by JAC.

Later we will see probably more consolidation but currently, the assembly is made from a few main car technologies parts providers, like batteries from e.g. CATL. So we will see many brands of cars on our roads because joining the EV business is not that expensive as it used to be for ICE cars.
