The cost of HESAI's LiDAR decreased from approx. $30,000 to $200 over 8 years. They are aiming for a market share of 56% in China.

Battery innovations from CATL:
1. Freevoy Dual Power Battery: a combination LFP/ternary battery with a range of 1,500 km/930 miles.
2. Second-generation Shenxing LFP battery: can be charged to 520 km/320 miles in 5 minutes; has a range of 800 km/approx. 500 miles
3. Next generation sodium ion battery: energy density 175 Wh/kg; mass production will start in December this year
  • When used as a heavy truck starter battery, can start at -40C with one click
  • When used for a pure battery EV, it has a range of 500 km/310 miles; it supports 5C/12 minute charging; and it has a lifespan of 10,000 charging cycles
  • Excellent low temperature performance
  • Outstanding safety features

Looks like Saudi Aramco is getting some help from BYD.

DUBAI, April 21 (Reuters) - Saudi oil giant Aramco signed a joint development agreement with Chinese electric vehicle (EV) manufacturer BYD to explore collaboration in the development of new energy vehicle technologies, Aramco said on Monday. The agreement, signed by Aramco unit Saudi Aramco Technologies Company (SATC), aims to enhance vehicle efficiency and environmental performance, as the kingdom steps up efforts to transition toward cleaner mobility.

Also, CATL's new Na-battery series is apparently called Naxtra.
