VW software is atrocious. They are at a different (lower..) league from Tesla and other Chinese EV companies.

They are trying but it seems to me that they are a case of "huge ship turns slowly" thing. Far too many internal organisational issues to pull of a good software experience.

At this point I would say its better to outsource the software component to Chinese companies and get done with it until they manage to make their own by themselves

Its not impossible. There are many Chinese companies which can provide quality software support for the automotive industry
