America is a now plutocracy, so she came out a new definition for democracy. What a spin doctor.Pretty sure she didn't expect to be that throughly educated by the comments
Singaporean Chinese aided and raised funds for China against Japan in WW2.China provide help to its citizens. China does not evacuate foreign citizens out of their own countries. Tell me which country in this world that provide diplomatic protection to foreign citizens?
When I was qualified to acquire citizenship of an European country, I made my choice not to do so because I don't want to give up my Chinese citizenship. That is not only a choice of convenience but also a question to my soul, "am I going to let the natives to ask where is my loyalty if I so love China?" People make their choice, then they must be brave to live with it.
This may sound cold-blooded, but I have to break it with you. If your ancestors made that choice for you, you can blame them but you can't blame China or Chinese who has nothing to do with you. China and Chinese people would appreciate your (and all ethnic Chinese) friendship, but that is it, good neighbour and friend, but that is not family.
Singaporean Chinese aided and raised funds for China against Japan in WW2.
This resulted in the massacre of Singaporean Chinese (Sook China massacre) when the Japanese invaders landed in Singapore.
We were also instrumental in forging diplomatic ties between China and Asean.
Singapore is one of the top foreign investors in China, and the top for many years.
In the 60s to 80s, many Singaporeans were sending money and carrying TVs and etc to their hometowns in China.
The well off set up schools and universities in China.
Tan Kah Kee and Xiamen(Fujian) University comes to mind.
Most probably you do not have relatives in Singapore, but most Singaporean Chinese have relatives in China.
@Hendrik_2000 do have valid points, though I would align more with your arguments.
But your "you can't blame China or Chinese who has nothing to do with you" is too harsh, haha.
I would say Singapore Chinese have a special relationship with China.
I think further discourse on this topic is pointless other than ruining friendship.
.
Yeah, by imposing travel controls. After the Union fell, Russia and the rest of CIS experienced (and still experience) immense brain drain. You also have a quite funny and specific definition for what accounts as a threat and what doesn't, so I'd suggest you stop speaking as if it is some fact, lol. China already attracts top talent from the likes of TSMC while Russia has to pay a premium for UMC workers, lol.
Russia is still using and relying a lot on the technological advancements made in the USSR era. "Stopped the scientific progress", lol.
Lol. Refined petroleum is not "sophisticated", there are petroleum refineries all over the world. What kind of sophisticated fuels does Russia produce that no other country does? Please, provide a list and citations. Also provide a citation on the highlighted part, please, and also a citation that other refineries (e.g. in KSA or SK) are not "computerized control". For now, all of this sounds like the "sophisticated" Australian beef or coal that they claimed China could not replace.
Sounds like copium.
I will not raise new points so as not to prolong discussion on this matter.it's so shameless for Singapore to claim credit on these. Singapore persecuted those who helped China, confiscated their properties and passports, shut down their schools, drived them out of Singapore.
in the future sea battle, if the US navy uses Singapore as a base, I support China drop a neutron bomb over the damn place. Singaporean and taiwanese are of the same breed, they are from the same damn place.
