Taiwan island-based computer hardware maker Gigabyte drew waves of criticism from netizens on the Chinese mainland on Sina Weibo on Tuesday, after it posted a statement on its website bragging its "made in Taiwan" quality and mocking the quality of Chinese mainland-made products.

On its website, Gigabyte describes its e-sports laptop series Aero as "made with premium technology" and "consistently relying on Taiwan manufacturing", unlike other brands that choose to "compromise quality by outsourcing the manufacturing to China".

The statement triggered a massive backlash on Sina Weibo, and by Tuesday afternoon, e-commerce platforms JD.com and Suning had taken down the company's products
Gigabyte later posted an apology on its official Weibo account, saying its statement was false, and it was caused by internal mismanagement, and it will deeply reflect on its behavior.

"Gigabyte's production lines are located across the Chinese mainland, accounting for more than 90 percent of our production," said the statement. "We are proud of the quality of products made there."

Why are there still idiotic companies guys so eager to bash China but perhaps forget that they rely heavily on the country? In the case of Gigabyte, >90% of its production is in China. But it dares to declare that it is proud to not manufacture Aero laptops in China? Such an idiotic statement! Good luck trying to sell to the Chinese market. Bravo! If you really want to be proud that the Aero is not made in China, just label it as 100% Made in Taiwan. Then just boast about 'Taiwanese quality', no need to bash China so explicitly.

I await the day when China can finally match the computer hardware technology of Taiwan. Then sell them at even more competitive prices than the Taiwanese brands. That'll force that arrogant fool in Gigabyte to eat his words. It'll also doom Taiwan's only remaining industry that is superior to China's. And then the sun will finally set on Taiwan.

It's in some ways this case is a good thing. Going forward big Taiwanese companies with lots of business with mainland will now have their HR people tease out weather or not you're pro-independence during the interview and get rid of those. Pro-independence will actually become a detriment towards getting a nice job from now on.

Come on guys. Where are all you people who said that this was 4D play by China on BD relations and Quad.

Where are you that you were making fantasies about BD wanting to join the Quad and all these theories, believing that China can do no wrong?

Ambassador already took back his comments haha. Probably got a good earful from the Chinese FM

The Chinese ambassador to Bangladesh, Li Jiming, has regretted over his remarks regarding the bilateral relations between Bangladesh and China, Foreign Minister Dr AK Abdul Momen told The Business Standard in an exclusive interview on Wednesday.
"Li Jiming delivered the comments in the face of 'abrupt aggressive questions' of media," Dr Momen said.
What sort of an Ambassador is he if he cant handle the media? Lol. At least the BD FM is giving the Chinese some face

The Foreign Minister said Bangladesh don't believe in any special relation with any specific country. "Especially, Bangladesh wants a balanced relationship with India and China." FM added.
I hope I wont hear any more conspiracies about BD and the Quad...

As i said the Ambassador is incompetent and should be shipped back to China to get better training before returning back to BD

If this is the case of incompetence then it's best the ambassador is recalled and replaced.
You have a point. This position is extremely important for national security. You dont want incompetent diplomats ruining China's relations with other countries.

He should return to China and should be professionally assessed on the circumstances of his actions, his inward thinking on why he made these comments etc.

However on the other hand, that he passed and got the position on the first place doesn't give me confidence that the diplomatic corps assessments are accurate.

I am sure though, that Chinese FM Wang Yi gave him a lengthy lecture on how to behave properly.
