Well don't underestimate your adversary, American has proven track record of "failing forward" in the sense that everytime something looked like it was going to do America in, it ultimately prevailed and came back stronger than ever before, I can list you dozens of examples in history. Sure you can point to the fact that the US only has less than 300 year history, and that sooner or later it cannot keep getting lucky forever, but we are talking about the here and now, this new Cold War (that may turn hot at moment notice) with China... US is fully anticipating winning this one just like it won against USSR. As for the Gordan Chang comment, he is obvious ashamed to be part Chinese, that is where its coming from, I'm coming from the angle of better to be too paranoid of your enemy than ever let your guard down again.
Today's executive order and yesterday's clean network is in part designed to slow the internationalization of the Yuan. This is the biggest threat to US. If China rolls out DCEP and foreign merchants can use Chinese fintech platforms, I.e., alipay and wechat pay, to conduct cross-border exchanges then the USD and by extension the US empire is doomed. The timing of these announcements are partly due to trump's reelection and partly because the US is starting to feel the heat, given the recent announcement regarding ant financial IPO and DCEP testings.
But let’s say Biden wins and reverses the anti-China policies.
Will this give Chinese renewed hope in Western democracy?
Would it be better for Trump to win again to show that Americans are out to destroy Chinese?
That is it’s a weak strawman. China never banned the likes of Google, google pulled out because they didn’t want to follow Chinese laws inside China.
China isn’t fight back very hard against this because I think Beijing wants Trump to make the ban, and then to extend it and impose it on the rest of the world by forcing Android and Apple to remove those apps from their stores.
While that will absolutely do some short term damage to the Chinese tech companies involved, it will absolutely destroy the reputation of American tech companies and shatter its stranglehold on the world app stores.
Developing an alternative App Store has never hard or an issue, the issue was getting users and developers world wide to jump ship onto it.
America banning popular apps will shift public opinion, while America imposing its choices on the world will shift government policy in places like the EU who have the collective strength to stand up against America.
Like almost all Trump policies, this will produce minimum short term gratification for maximum medium to long term damage.
At best Trump is to America what fast food is to the American individual, but more realistically, he is like meth or crack cocaine. You get a short term high and delirium at the cost of your long term health and well being, and worse, it warps your sense of reality and is highly addictive.
Biden winning will certainly give China some relief from constant attacks and tension, it will not change anti-China mood of the US. Biden will eventually be replaced by a President Josh Hawley or someone of similar mold in the future. The US anti-China policies are rooted in the American and other european/euro-settled peoples anxiety of losing their dominant position. So, Trump is not unique in this. he is just the messenger. Anyone following reddit and twitter can see how anti-China general western public are becoming. Australia, Bolsonaro's Brazil, UK - pretty much all such countries are moving towards far right/white supremacy/anti-china thinking. Sure the liberal parties in these countries are not that anti-China, but they can feel the mood in the air and don't want to be outflanked for being soft on China.
Biden winning will stop petty-maximum in-your face slap actions that Trump has taken. So, things like asking money for Tik tok sale or Calling for Regime change will stop. But what will happen is that the truly damaging policies for China will begin, so things like trade blocs, united effort to kick Chinese candidates out of UN. That sort of thing.
China will have to face North Korea/Iran style complete cutoff from the west and still keep growing in order to become a superpower. You cannot become number 1 without your opponent using their maximum power to stop you.
On the bright side, every power that the west uses is a power they will no longer have. You use it, you lose it type scenario. the fact it is happening now is good for China. Just imagine if these actions started 20 years from now, when Chinese tech companies are deeply embedded into the western market, completely follow western standard and Chinese GDP per capita is also higher. That means China will have to waste a lot of resources to withstand the decoupling.
Right now China's biggest advantage is its reserve growth power. They are still poor/ rural (40% rural) and uneducated. So, just by educating their young and moving the poor into cities will give them enormous growth. Its easy growth. Right now their tech companies are mostly young and vibrant. They can easily switch to new tech standards and withstand the shock of a blockade. In the future, there will be too much vested interests and a large part of Chinese public will probably ask for a surrender just to save their income. That would have doomed CCP.
But let’s say Biden wins and reverses the anti-China policies.

The irony is the US is denying the people's freedom to choose and free enterprise.
