. It chronicles the adventures of a collection of mostly Australian computer hackers and phreakers in the 1980s and early 1990s, including one Julian Assange. I first read it around the turn of the millenium, well before Assange entered the broader public consciousness, and it was subsequently something of a revelation to realise, some years later, that this guy was also that guy. In any case it's an entertaining read, for those with suitably esoteric interests.

China now has six SSBNs and six SSNs (as well as 48 diesel-electric tactical submarines). The latest Chinese SSBN class, the Type 094, began nuclear deterrence patrols in December 2015.

Sometimes you have to marvel at western IQ, because if you can't detect more than 6 Chinese SSNs 8 years after China had more than half of all SSN/SSBN bays on the planet, you're cooked.

A couple of low levels authors in an Australian think-tank sure as hell don't have security clearance to review intel on Chinese subs. They are most likely only using publicly verifiable sources from the Anglo-internet and discounting everything else as fake and untrustworthy.

As the Delhi pollution crisis continues, the Delhi government have banned, amongst other things, tandoor. So no more tandoori chicken and naan in Delhi until the smog clears.

The Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM), said its GRAP sub-committee had decided to enforce all measures under stage-IV or "severe+" air quality with immediate effect after pollution levels crossed critical thresholds.

Under GRAP IV, any open burning of biomass, waste, or similar materials (which could include coal) is strictly prohibited.

"Urban local bodies, including commissioners and chief engineers of municipal agencies, have been instructed to conduct checks and ensure that all eateries under their jurisdiction immediately discontinue use of coal and firewood," according to the PTI report.

There are reports in the Indian media that the tandoor ban is being widely flouted. No surprises there. I guess the Delhi government just cannot stop people from having their tandoor in the Delhi winter.
