I got called a white supremacist on Xiaohongshu for saying Qingdao,Shanghai,Tianjin etc would be better cities if just let their colonial heritage die instead of making it their entire identity.
sorry but i'm having difficulty understanding whats going on here. what part of this is inducing the accusation of white supremacy? this sounds like it could be as much the product of a failure in comprehension triggering an irrational response as it is an actual rebuttal of logic. actually, more likely the former because i frankly don't see the logic here.

TI doesnt make discrete / MOSFETs, nor do they have the capacity.

Its basically a no win situation for Netherlands now, because even if they undo everything, give Wingtech their shares back and CEO his position, the first thing Wingtech will do is move everything to China and shutdown European liability.

And right now China has absolutely nothing to lose from walking away, Wingtech just finished a new China wafer plant that 1 to 1 matches all existing Nexperia European wafer fab, while Europe has no packaging plant even planed. Chinese EV market is more than enough to absorb Nexperia's volume directly or indirectly, while Nexperia Europe has no ability to sell their wafers.

Lastly but not least, China has every reason and incentive to make an example out of Netherlands. IMO China should just force European automakers who doesnt want to shutdown production to switch to Chinese brands and let Nexperia Europe die.
China imposing just an export control for a massive theft of a Chinese company by the dutch is weak action in my view. They should have siezed a dutch subsidiary in China as retaliation and put several Dutch companies including Nexperia on the entity list, forever banning them from trading with China.

Nexperia's fab is physically in China. Netherlands actually thought they could nationalize Nexperia, and then use their Dutch head office to order their fab around, when the fab is in China. I didn't believe it too when I saw it.

Nexperia shouldn't be the only target. Or even the main one.

The main attack should be on ASML with the day of reckoning coming in a few months when their RE stocks run out.

Nexperia should just be the trigger.

It will be hilarious that in 2027 that the only EUVs being produced anywhere would be Chinese. LOL

ASML has enough. For now.

...

The company has long lead times for its advanced tools, so it has plenty of raw materials in stock to support short-term demand from its clients. What happens after the company's reserves deplete is something unclear, though.

...

"We have long lead times, and therefore, also in our supply chain, we make sure that we have the materials in that we that we need for the next couple of months," said Roger Dassen, CFO of ASML, in a conversation with Bloomberg.

I don't know what's funnier, the fact they think China will only starve them for a few month, or that they thought they could have actually stockpiled any after China implemented the original anti-stockpiling export control back in May.

Meanwhile, the company now has over a month to buy rare earth materials or components containing them before the new export controls regime is enacted.
lmao, they're so cute.

Banks Stocks Tumble After More Credit ‘Cockroaches’ Unearthed.
Zions Bancorporation will take a $50 million charge-off in the third quarter due to activity by two commercial and industrial borrowers.

Zions shares fell 4.8% and the KBW Regional Banking Index dropped 4.8%, its worst one-day decline since April.

Non-depository financial institutions (NDFIs) now constitute 33% of all commercial and industrial loans from large banks.
New worries about loans by regional banks are sinking stocks as investors fear there’s a bumpy road ahead for credit markets. It comes after the bankruptcies of two auto-industry companies last month turned up the pressure on the banking industry.
The CEO of the biggest U.S. bank, JPMorgan’s
JPM-0.33% Jamie Dimon, raised the issue of those bankruptcies—of subprime auto lender Tricolor Holdings and auto parts maker First Brands—this week, referring to credit market risk when he made the comment “when you see one cockroach, there’s probably more.”

Changsha and Wuhan were warlord forces as they pretty much made up almost all forces in Wuhan and in Changsha. Yang sen, Xue yue, Chen Cheng and guan linzheng were warlords except Guan. Jiang did not contribute militarially as he preserved his own forces while the warlords and CCP took the bullet.

In Wuhan
Bai Chongxi, Li Zongren, Chen Cheng, Xue yue were the warlods who contributed to Wuhan.

Jiang diary's blamed corruption for KMT failures but his own family was part of the corruption.

The CCP organised resistance after the Dongbei fell long before KMT organised any resistance.

Also it wasn't just Zhang Xueliang but also Yang Hucheng who kidnapped him.

Another warlord by the name of Sun Weiru literally saved Jiang by preventing the Japanese from entering Shaanxi which was the only path to Chongqing.

Even the US army concluded that Jiang was useless and even suggested working with the CCP instead.

A big part of why the CCP won the civil war was because the warlords in the Central Heartland either switching sides or refusing the fight including Sun Weiru.

Don't forget Jiang literally forgave several Japanese generals after the Second Sino Japanese war because was classmates with them and didn't pursue any policy of demanding reperations from Japan. (Courtesy of Uncle Sam who reworte Japan's wartime record).
My dad met a grandson of Bai Chongxi at a country club… something something bourgeoisie…

There was no logical reason for China to treat the Netherlands with kids gloves after the EUV ban. Nexperia should remove whatever sentiment China has for that very anti-Chinese country.

China might have stayed its hand when it was importing DUVs. But now with China's own equipment coming online and also with even support being cut off from ASML by anti-Chinese decrees, there is no reason to supply this company and keep its production of explicitly not-for-China equipment like EUVs running at all.

China's policies are finally reflecting this. It just needs to stay the course and starve the Netherlands' prize horse:

Ministry of Commerce (MOFCOM) said that exports of Chinese-origin rare earths or products made with them will now require government licenses if they’re linked to the development or manufacture of advanced chips — defined as logic at 14 nanometers or below, or memory with 256 layers or more.

Ban neon. They can buy it from Russia lmao.

There's actually many elements beyond rare earths that China controls, the game is just getting started.
