But based purely on the video evidence, which did not record sound, it does not look like a simple case of self defense. Based solely on the video evidence, it looks like the brothers initiated physical contact, retrieved a weapon while the other party was already leaving the premises, and then approached the other party and swung a deadly weapon. Attempted murder is going a bit far, but to me it looks more like assault with a deadly weapon than self defense.

EDIT: reviewing the video, appears the other party initiated the first push, though the fight starts when one of the brothers push sometime after. The other party definitely should be charged with disorderly conduct and assault as well.

Self defense laws vary state by state. For example, some states have stand your ground and castle doctrine laws while others don't. Some states emphasize the level of threat while others are more or loose. Contrary to popular belief, the US is very diverse culturally and morally. Each state's set of values along with their counties is different from each other.

You are talking about a city where they value criminals more than the victims as crime rates continue to surge. Getting a gun would probably lead to a life sentence instead.

Trying to make an objective assessment does not make me a race traitor. It's ridiculous that the other party didn't get charged for their role in the altercation, but what that brother did was at minimum assault with deadly weapon. Going after someone with a sword is not self defense.

Even in Texas, it's going to be hard to justify going after someone that had already been walking away with a sword.

Note how far the brother was away from the original location of the altercation when he started swinging the sword.

The thugs were literally still in front of their property, look at the video you linked. Notice the orange awning where the thugs originally peed under is where the thugs loitered after the brothers went inside.
