First Australia, now the UK, I think China should consider 5 eyes except NZ as lost cause and prepare for the inevitable.
What I want to see is when China recognises Native American genocide n, aboriginal genocide, Algerian genocide,British colonial empire genocide.

This entire thing is intended for a particular group of audience. China has the tool it needs to respond. The question is, can they & will they.

I know I am late on this, but if anybody doubts that the BBC is anything other than a UK establishment mouthpiece, they simply need to remember the Dr David Kelly debacle. When Dr Kelly was found dead in the woods, the BBC initially expressed doubt on the official explanation. The result was a visit to the board by Alastair Campbell, who tore them off a strip, reminded them of their place in the world and told them to correct their mistake. The news coverage of the story changed dramatically and half of the BBC Board of Directors resigned en-mass. The BBC has since been a loyal organisation, faithfully parroting all and every major geopolitical line since. In return they get thrown the odd dodgy MP caught out on their expenses.

How could I have forgotten that! I must be getting old. Thanks for reminding us.

This BBC 'independence' thing. One mustn't hold certain member here responsible for believing BBC independence. After all, we have had a life time of BBC themselves telling us of their indendence!

You can't make it up. The amount of times I hear it from the BBC. It must have indoctrinated in his brain for him to perform the mental gymnast necessary to make it true in his head.

Can you imagine if Global time or CGTN at every turn telling their audience they are editorial independent! Gee

No. Those were real genocides. Xinjiang is fake genocide.

The correct way to counter is to develop China’s own soft power. There was a Reddit r/cdrama thread last week when someone asked why there were so many Uyghur celebrities on Chinese TV when China was genociding the Uyghur people. Some posters had the crazy idea that Chinese censorship was so powerful that none of the Uyghur celebrities knew what’s going on in their hometowns (the classic I know more about China than the Chinese because I read New York Times attitude). But a lot of posters there knew the ‘genocide’ was all Western propaganda.

Next year is the 60th anniversary of the Sino-Indian War. A lot of Uyghur soldiers fought in that war just like a lot of Uyghur soldiers are now guarding the LOC. Make a war film for the anniversary, Feature a Uyghur main character. Make it good so it becomes a blockbuster and watch Western journalists trying to spin it or ignore it.

Don’t just react to Western lies. Take the initiative and show the truth.

Why not do both?

I guess after sailing for too long in the open sea (especially as a submarine), you just feel like you can do whatever you want and nothing's ever in the way so you stop checking...

Japan navy submarine, Hong Kong ship collide off Japan coast

MARI YAMAGUCHI February 8, 2021

TOKYO (AP) — A Japanese navy submarine and a commercial ship collided off Japan's southern coast on Monday, causing minor injuries to three crewmembers of the submarine and damage to its mast, defense officials said.

The submarine Soryu was in the process of surfacing about 27 nautical miles (50 kilometers) south of Cape Ashizuri on Japan's southwestern island of Shikoku when it collided with the commercial ship, the Maritime Self-Defense Force said in a statement.

There was slight damage to the submarine's mast but it was able to continue sailing on its own, it said.

The navy did not identify the commercial ship, but NHK public television said it was the Hong Kong-registered bulk carrier Ocean Artemis. It was transporting 90,000 tons of iron to Okayama in western Japan after leaving the Chinese port of Qingdao last Friday with 21 Chinese crewmembers, it said.

Defense Minister Nobuo Kishi told reporters that the collision was “extremely regrettable.”

He said the submarine temporarily lost communication signals due to the damage to its antenna mast.

The commercial ship left the scene but later told Japanese coast guard officials that it sustained no damage and its crew did not even feel the impact, Kishi said.

He said the cause of the accident wasn't known and an investigation is underway.

Japanese Chief Cabinet Secretary Katsunobu Kato told members of the press that the commercial vessel had reported to the Japan Coast Guard that no impact was felt, and it does not appear to have sustained any damage. So far, there have been no reports of injuries to any of the crew of the commercial vessel.
He noted that the dangers of the surfacing procedure would have been known to the crew and that they should have confirmed that the maneuver was safe using the sonar systems. It suggested that the sonar system may not have been properly functioning, or otherwise, there could have been “problems with the crew’s skills or their teamwork.”
Couldn't even feel it

Malaysia a case study in how China wins friends and influences Asia

US simply cannot match what Beijing is able to offer its neighbors

That's the whole point.

China offers a better deal.

Full stop. Unless the Americans can somehow offer a better deal, then the current situation will persist into future, diminishing American influence a little bit more each year as we go along.

As we can see currently, the Americans have no capacity to offer a better deal, so it resorts to coercion to its allies and negative campaigning against China (stories of fake genocide).

Just my opinion but this does not have a chance.

The stories of fake genocide, does that stop America from doing business with the Chinese?

Yes? No?

Why would anyone else be any different?

Unless we think Australia or corrupt UK politicians are the center of the world.

Someone is being played. It ain't the Chinese.

:p
