I would not be as dismissive.

Those bases can be used as staging grounds to launch and operate UUVs. The UUVs are capable of threatening Chinese military installations (mainly naval-related) on those SCS islands and across the seabed. There is also the Yulin Submarine Base on Hainan which these UUVs are definitely going to be "interested" in.

Of course, this is only one of the multiple ways I could see how these Filipino bases can be utilized by the Americans.

One mental note: Judging by all these things happening right now vis-a-vis US-Phillipines' joint actions against China - Once everything is over, China should seek to (or shall I say, must) set up military bases and installations on the Philippine archipelago.

Reason? The Stockholm Syndrome illness must be treated.
Is China still going to follow through with the recent promise to increase investments in PH.

Quoting some blogger: They hold the Russian Air Force at bay with almost nothing, neutralised the Black Sea Fleet without using a single ship or submarine to do so, their personnel needs only weeks to learn making good use of Western AFVs and artillery pieces.

The blogger started with this premise and then concluded quite logically the conclusion that he drew. But surely he ought to have applied logic to the premise itself?

I'd think anyone not in the thrall of western propaganda would look at that premise and ask "wait, what? how...?"

What about Chinese ways of wiping those bases off the map, permanently?

But, I don't believe it will get to that. Not for one second.

Don't be tricked.
No. How are you going to wipe those bases off the map permanenetly without using nuclear weapons? Besides, China isn't crazy enough to go that far.

Depending on how Beijing sees this development. If there still remain benefits and interests for China to invest in the Philippines, then I think China would follow through. Although, this may come with certain limitations, reduction in scale of the investments, and/or asking for more concessions from the Filipino side.

My only hope is that, in this case, Marcos did realize that this would eventually happen and clarified his position and reasoning with Xi during his visit to Beijing early last month. If Manila can make sure Beijing understands that the Philippines is being forced by the US to do the above actions, then I don't think China would go smack-hammering on the Philippines.

However, if Marcos didn't make this clear to Xi beforehand and/or now, and/or Manila did intend for this to happen as putting an up-yours to Beijing, then we already know how the story would go.

It would be idiotic to do so. China isn't stupid and it knows that Philippines is still a US Empire territory. If China didn't invest a lot of money with Duterte there is no way it will invest with Marcos

Most likely, more talks/MOU/studies of investing but no real money invested to Philippines. The more Philippines drags out this geopolitical tightrope, the more it gets left behind by its neighbors.

Maybe in 1 or 2 years, there isn't a big difference, but in 10-15 years Philippines will realise how much damage it has caused to itself

Oil prices have no major impact on how the fund perform a given year, it rise and fall with the stock market.
China's tech sector performed well in the last months but from 2020 until late 2022 they were a major loss while the US tech stocks were on a run. I don't know what you base the Swedes being more racist on but on a per capita level we have taken in more immigrants and refuges then any other European country. Over 25% of the population here now have foreign roots, up from basically 0% in 1950.
The Chinese all know that the Swedish police dragged Chinese tourists out of the hotel and threw them beside the cemetery.

It's a propaganda show.

China will continue to invest in the Philippines and Sino-Filipino relations will continue to advance.

This place is still a military forum. We just ask the obvious question.

In respects to the reclaimed island bases in the South China Sea, and those military bases on Luzon, who outguns who?

After this military deal between the two treaty allies, with respects to the reclaimed island bases in the South China Sea, and those military bases on Luzon, who outguns who?

It would seem obvious answer to that is China, and China.

Unless there is evidence there will be a military buildup at those bases on Luzon. The Americans are not saying much, as this deal is bit of a secret.

The Americans loving those secret deals, yesterday with the Dutch regarding chips, today with the Filipinos. That's interesting because the Americans are boastful always about how big and powerful they are.

This time, they decline to say.

We can figure it out.

They got nuttin'

:p

Lol i have seen that to
Tourists who wanted to sleep in a hotel lobby and refused to leave when asked by the hotel staff then threw a fit. And no they did not drop them of at a cemetery, they drove them to the closest train station.
