Singapore will do what will be in the interest of Singapore itself. Security is paramount with no hinterland and no defensible border Singapore relied on active defense. So it make up quality for quantity That mean Spore need highly sophisticated weaponry to make up for its weaknesses. The only country that can provide those sophisticated weapon is USA!. Now what would China do if for some hypothetical war between Spore and Malaysia say over water right? Will China help? I doubt it knowing China do nothing policy aka "non interference in other country domestic dispute" So don't judge
Since when is a dispute between Singapore and Malaysia a domestic issue? Why should China help considering that Singapore isn’t anymore pro China than Malaysia especially with the American base. Also US isn’t the only one with sophisticated weapons.

Maybe Biden isn’t suffering from mental decline but from multiple personality disorder.

Was it just another gaffe, or dangerously close to a casus belli? US President Joe Biden’s latest remarks on Taiwan have stirred a mix of reactions in capitals around the world.
The White House promptly walked back Biden’s comments, insisting that its policy on Taiwan had not changed and indicating that the 79-year-old had misspoke again. But calling this another of Biden’s trademark gaffes is a disingenuous excuse.
Biden made similar public remarks in the United States on at least two occasions last year that the White House had to swiftly retract.
To misspeak once on probably the most important issue underpinning the China-US relationship can be construed as unintentional, but doing so at least three times in 12 months sounds a lot more like a deliberate move than a blunder.
Sending such a blunt warning to Beijing that it risks direct military confrontation with the US if it invades Taiwan could backfire, big time.
Judging by international media reports, Biden’s remarks delighted the Taiwanese authorities – and the China hawks in Washington – but caused confusion in the Asia-Pacific region, where many countries are wary of escalating tensions between the world’s two largest economies.

I took this opportune time to respond after so many Singapore bashing posts for doing what we think will be in our best interest for the survival of a tiny city that will avoid the wrath of the sole world hegemon upon us.
Trying to navigate safely in these difficult geopolitical times.
Hope this will go some way to clear some misunderstandings over Singapore policies.

LKY and the current generation of political leaders also believe that China will have a larger military footprint than the US in the Singapore Straits in the future.

So should Singapore ditch the USA in such a scenario?

Nobody is ditching anyone.

ASEAN is desperate for the US to remain involved in the Asia-Pacific in order to balance China's overwhelming power.
If the US is not enough, don't be surprised when in the future they start courting EU/India.

That's how International Relations work in geopolitics. The moment someone gets too powerful, you start inviting outside parties to balance him out. Why else do you think that ASEAN loves involving the US in the SCS dispute
