There is no doubt that indonesia will be dragged into an arms race with australia, they are next door after all
The results of this will be australia being isolated by ASEAN countries, australia is working extra hard to make their own nightmare comes true
@bajingan bro I forgot you're from Indonesia, that is the thing bro, the American or the west in particular their foreign policy is driven purely by emotion, there is no deft statesmanship anymore, 20 years of war on terror had blinded them, the support the world had given after 9/11 had been wasted in return for their Hubris. Now the ASEAN had seen the danger and I think Indonesia will flex its influence inside the bloc and that is a huge win for China. Indonesia with the Philippine hold a strategy location in the region, with them being neutral at best is a victory win for China.

I'll told you so deep inside the Indonesian know that the target is them not China, cause for them proximity counts and the Australians are intruders and don't share our Asian value. So @supersnoop is right we are being hysterical , instead of forming an alliance of the willing it had created the opposite with major consequence for the Americans. It solidify the Chinese in the SCS with Japan on the back foot as the only Asian that sided with the foreigners (so called western values).

Australia’s plan to arm itself with a fleet of nuclear-propelled submarines to combat the rising threat of China has been met with alarm by near neighbour Indonesia.

South-east Asia’s largest country has expressed unease about Australia’s dramatic enhancing of its military, notably its intention to use US technology to build eight nuclear-powered submarines as part of the new three-way defence alliance with Washington DC and London.

In a statement issued on Friday, Indonesia foreign affairs spokesman Teuku Faizasyah said Jakarta had taken note of Australia’s decision to acquire nuclear-powered submarines and stressed “Indonesia is deeply concerned over the continuing arms race and power projection in the region”.

“Indonesia stresses the importance of Australia’s commitment to continue meeting all of its nuclear non-proliferation obligations,” the statement said.

“Indonesia calls on Australia to maintain its commitment towards regional peace, stability and security in accordance with the Treaty of Amity and Cooperation [the code of conduct between the Association of South-east Asian Nations].

“Indonesia encourages Australia and other parties concerned to advance dialogue in settling any differences peacefully. In this regard, Indonesia underscores the respect for international law, including UNCLOS 1982 [United Nations Convention on Law of the Sea], in maintaining peace and security in the region.”

Yup. Westerners have this delusional idea that the 'world' is 'uniting' against China. No, everyone is out for themselves so anything you do that goes against their interests, they'll react. E.g Vietnam isn't going to ally against China with the US when they also claim a huge portion of the SCS

Wait is it true that it will take 25years for australia to field 8 nuke submarines? Lmao

When the dust settles and the fanfare goes quiet in a few months, who will remember what AUKUS is about?

Right now, that fella from down under, I mean ScoMo, is feeling strong and trolling Xi Jinping.

Does anyone still remember what B3W stands for?

Yah brother, that is what I think too.

The QUAD is both anti-China and anti-ASEAN.

The QUAD wanting to be anti-China is an open secret.

The QUAD being anti-ASEAN is much more subtle, but eventually, I think everyone in the region will come to the same conclusion.

We have to go back, look at history, and the reasons for the ASEAN grouping. ASEAN has been rather successful with their hands off and mild binding interactions with each other.

The idea of diplomacy and international relations, is to advance your own interests. ASEAN likes to do that collectively, the win-win for everyone inside ASEAN.

The QUAD may not give a damn about ASEAN interests.

"We do not want to pick a side." That is what Singapore has consistently said. They want their wishes and interests respected.

Will the QUAD want to give ASEAN that breathing room?

If the interests of the QUAD and ASEAN do not align, that is fine. But when the QUAD starts pushing ASEAN for those separate interests to align, then the QUAD is being anti-ASEAN.

The hostility between China and America, that will make the QUAD more aggressive and risk taking.

It does not serve ASEAN interests to be part of that game.

--------------------------------- -------------------------------

China and ASEAN are connected through the RCEP.

But this does not mean China should expect anything from ASEAN regarding the Americans.

China and ASEAN is one relationship.

China and America and QUAD, is another relationship.

China intends to keep these relationships separate.

So far, China has done that. They got the RCEP with ASEAN, they got the Trade Deal phase I from American President Trump, they got the CAI from the EU who has rejected it but not completely.

The EU is just like the Americans, they suffer from strategic confusion too.

:D

The Rise of China is a breathe of fresh air among the developing countries (alternatives)and the West just don't get it that the Moral Values that they are parroting/promoting is full of horse (sorry bro :p ) manure that stink to high heaven, even the gods will vomit after hearing those words.

Traditional values are under assault in America and Canada, that is a strange trend brother.

Those "moral values," are either being actively changed, or ignored. This is inside America.

Case in point, the controversy over pronouns, because everyone is suppose to be gay!

Case in point, censorship, that is bad unless they do it themselves then that is good, as Twitter banned my favourite American superhero.

Parts of America are rejecting the standard line from the American State Department.

This old video clearly shows the fault lines in American society.

The protesters reject the power structures of America, and the ideology of what the US State Dept. stands for, I would imagine.

The Chinese guy or Korean guy represents traditional values. The Chinese still are conservatives.

The guys singing, they don't care, the American underclass always wanted to subvert and overthrow the system.
