China folded

So the No2 of the US State department will meet the Foreign minister Wang Yi. China clearly folded on this as previously they proposed her to meet with the Chinese Vice minister of foreign affairs.

Loss for China as it is now confirming that the Foreign Minister is just a "junior". Expect more countries to demand the same treatment in the future. Dissapointing
Yeah, that's it, it's all over. Time for the China to sign over Hong Kong for another 99 years, maybe throw in a few more cities in the PRD.

Their population is not that big. It is fairly easy to print some money and distribute the resource directly or indirectly through healthcare and welfare, thereby elevating their living standards.
China doesn't want them to live off welfare. China has already spent hundreds of billions in Tibet and Xingjiang each year. All wealthy Chinese provinces have redirected and allocated resources to help Tibet and Xingjiang. It is unfair for these provinces to continue this practice forever. Long term poverty can only be alleviated with employment and development.

I can understand why the meeting is held. But I think it is complete waste of time.

Only reason that Sherman is going is to ask for bailout, and I don’t think any country in the world is capable of bailing out a QE of this magnitude.

Rocket man Kin does the incredible again. Another food shortage, this time confirmed by the UN. It is really the bane of the North Koreans that they have Kim as their leader.

Imagine having China as a neighbour and still having food shortages. Sigh

Wow, are you ignorant? They are under total embargo and have limited options for development. The same with Cuba. China faced the same total embargo between 1949 and early 1970s and suffered a mass famine in the late 1950s. Please do not use Anglocentric talking points like rocketman and keep that at the minimum of this forum. We do visit this site for other viewpoints. There are enough other sites where you can engage in spreading an Angloentric worldview and talking points. For example Reddit Geopolitics.

The meeting didn't even happen yet and already the doom and gloom? I was under the impression that Blinken's counterpart is Yang Jiechi, not Wang Yi, based on the Alaska talks.

I don't know about the lower ranking officials, but Wang has shown that he can be quite blunt when necessary. While I am not expecting anything of the scale in the Alaska talks, this meeting could be an opportunity to hammer in existing talking points.

North Korean trade with China is springing back to life, easing pressure on Kim Jong Un whose economy has been battered by sanctions and border closures owing to the coronavirus pandemic.
Trade still happens but the ultra genius Kim with his paranoia has shut down cross-border trade. Now watch as N.Korea suffers from food shortages due to his policies.

China has repeatedly offered to make quick shipments of food with minimal crew to avoid covid infections and Kim is still rooted in paranoia. But it doesnt matter the common people will starve and die while he is sitting on the "throne" comfortable"

The point is this:
China is ready to assist NK but Kim rooted in his paranoia has shutdown trade

Ah, when the man has refused food shipments than I blame him partially for the North Korean food crisis under the assumption that there is a real food crisis. I have lost almost all trust in Anglophone media.

I know how the western media operate. This time it is real, the report is from the UN’s Food and Agricultural Organisation.

The main issue is that Kim has shut down border trade with China, which has also reduced income for NK commercial operators which makes it very difficult for them to import food by other "means"

The only way this is solved is by direct state intervention from NK. It needs to open up border trade and accept China's humanitarian aid to stop this food shortage
