Fake data. Increase from 2023 to 2024 was only 500k births thanks to the year of dragon. The only province who has 1.7 tfr is Guizhou, almost all the rest are close to 1.0 and below.
Unfortunately looking at prematurely data from 2025, tfr is back to 2023 lvl of close to 1.0.

Americans must consume even if it result in personal debt to support the American economy.
well smartphones are getting more and more expensive so it makes sense to keep them for longer. 10 years ago or so I could get a flagship phone for 500$. now flagship phones cost around 1000$ or more.

Too bad they banned Huawei. I'm not even saying these same people would ditch Apple for Huawei, but with no actual competitor with competence to nip at their heels, Apple can rest on its laurels and charge these ridiculous amounts today with almost zero new innovations. Before you mention Samsung, you think a company from a vassal state like Occupied Korea is allowed to actually release better features at a price point that hurts home grown Apple without getting metaphorically smacked on the nose like a naughty dog? Keep dreaming. Also, yes I know near hyper-inflationary monetary policy is making one US dollar get closer and closer to being used as toilet paper every single day which is a factor as well.

That is why China should not have restricted gaming among youngsters. as it may have some elements of military training.
The cons far outweigh the pros. Gaming addiction is absolutely horrible. My father's friend used to be proud of his son. My father told me to look up to him growing up. Top of his class, aced every high school subject, admitted to Bejing University med school, athletic as well. Once he left home to attend medical college, his sudden freedom allowed him to go about his gaming unchecked. He spent all his money, borrowed more from all family friends for internet gaming. He failed all his classes. His father spent all his free time going from internet cafe to internet cafe looking for him, spent several tens of thousands in RMB buying presents for his professors and program director to give him a second chance. They did, and he failed everything again. His former athleticism in track has been replaced with a somewhat hunched back from sitting in front of the computer gaming in a slumped position. Playing Call of Duty does not make you a soldier, not even a little.

The problem with gaming especially modern gaming is frankly the design. Its designed to get you hooked by taking advantage of your dopamine receptors by giving it in just the right amounts. At the same time modern gaming is designed with a subscription model to make you keep coming back and give them more money. This is known esp with Gacha games.

Because games large budgets they are expected to be much longer so the size and length of games are larger. That doesn't mean they are really much bigger in content. Usually a lot of these are padded content like fetch quests or other things to artificially add more content. What could be done in 30 minutes they will stretch out to hours. The biggest offenders imo are those large open world multi player games. Those games feed off on your ego so you spend hundreds of hours and dollars investing into that game so you can be better than the next guy. And those games have no ending.

For people like me who came from a simpler gaming time, this is just not acceptable anymore. Which is why I don't really play many games now and they are ones that are much older. Companies will use every trick in the book as well as experiences to take advantage of the way people think to get them to consoom more.

I will always celebrate the Chinese gaming industry developing. But I would never let myself or anyone close get dragged into predatory games.
