Five days of missile drills start tomorrow, while the US delegation is in Taiwan.

This is the problem now.

If China wanted to dismember Taiwan, chopping off outlying islands one at a time, there will be no resistance.

No one else is gonna to do anything about it.

That is a demonstration of real power, and in the geopolitical arena, only the hard power counts.

Taiwan is still playing the creeping independence game along with the Americans. What exactly is that suppose to do?

Great analysis. You can foresee the propaganda incoming.

But, this is really easy for China to deal with, because China is doing more than any other country I know of. One of my favorite pages, and one I visit everyday is the China Daily’s environment page, It is so inspiring, and if I ever feel down I visit because it shows such hope and such tremendous progress, really awe inspiring...

I don’t think Xi will be too forceful in the meeting, but in front of the 40 world leaders he can ask how they can reduce their emissions further while under technology sanctions? How can they produce the high tech equipment that they and the while wold need?

I’d love him to challenge the US to see who can reach net zero first, make the US spend more and more on it, increasing the pressure on their military budget.

Chinas propaganda machine really needs to up their game, if China is going to act like a super power then the world needs to know the truth of what they are already doing, and compare that to the USA.
It is the US that is reaping the most benefits of industrial pollution. Now they are claiming China is not doing enough, when 25% of hydro-power is generated in China and 33% of solar power is generated in China.

How are they going to do that with puny naval transportation? Instead of missile exercise they should built LST, LPD by hundred that should send clear and loud message. I mean they can do it is simple design and there are hundred of shipyard inland that can do it . Why they didn't do it I don't know? It wouldn't cost that much. So all those posturing is just empty gesture.

I agree with this. China is obviously NOT preparing for an invasion. If you read carefully our expert moderator Bltizo posts you will notice that he says the same thing.

The current China's shipbuilding program shows that it is not making the procurements necessary for preparing for an invasion.

To me, China shipbuilding shows that its primary way for reuniting with Taiwan is definetely NOT by an invasion.

Note that I didn't say non-military, China will definetely use its military but I dont think it will actually invade.

Do they really need big Amphibs for Taiwan? The Taiwan straight is pretty narrow, they have amphibious tanks that can cross it by themselves.

They have a huge new helicopter base being built right now too.

Well I can do understand that they are still in building process bulking up on destroyer, LHD, Carrier, Submarine, fighter jet Because they must have the mean to punch thru any naval blockade by the combined fleet of 7th fleet and JMSDF Occupied those Miyako island and if need be attack Okinawa. No repeat of WWII naval blockade.

But even though they need to start building the invasion armada and train the marine for corp wide assault. It will take some time.

Can't because taiwan straight in notorious for swell Those amphibious craft will be swamped and sunk. Anyway they don't have to power or endurance to cross straits. It is not meant for that
