Malaysia Airlines Flight 370 is Missing

I thought modern passenger liners has a hijack button that allows the cockpit crew to alert the ground of hijacking in progress with the press of a single button from behind a deadbolted and reinforced cockpit door.

In that case how can the hijack happen without any direct indication clear to the ground?

Then that now points to an inside job.

Re: Malaysia Airlines Plane is Missing

Good point.

Or, perhaps it was the aircraft they wanted all along and were able to get the Malaysian aircraft easiest because of more lax security and because of its departure point being in range of wherever it was they wanted to go.

If that is the case...and they were successful...I fear we will never hear another word about any of those passengers, unless the case is solved.

Whatever happened, we simply do not know. It is a very strange case and we will probably only find the truth in the now myriad of theories when it is actually solved.

But the US sounds like it has a lead and is acting immediately on it.

I wonder if the US have communicated their suspicions (whatever they may be) with the other nations, Malaysia and china in particular. The coordination between different countries has left much to be desired so far.

I think the responsibility for coordinating falls to Malaysia since the last known coordinates were within Malaysia's area as well as being its national carrier. So the other countries have to wait on word from Malaysia. I think the Vietnamese had expressed some dissatisfaction with the lack of communication and they have no skin involved, no Vietnamese national was on that flight so you could say they aren't emotionally charged compared to the Chinese (passengers' next of kin voicing anger to their govt which in turn could make the govt look weak and ineffective).

I wonder if the US had deployed any drones for surveillance? Also, aren't there any LCSs forward deployed in Singapore? They didn't seem to be deployed for the SAR despite their position and specific design for littoral waters.

Then that now points to an inside job.

Is there a reason why transponders can even be turned off? I understand if it was a military plane but a commercial airliner? If anything, I would say it should be hard wired to always be on when in flight with a secondary transponder as backup. That secondary should be installed in different locations for each plane that rolls off the assembly line (like LoJack) to hamper attempts by hijackers to disable it.

The following is from CNN.

"There could be several reasons. One reason could be when airplanes get close to each other (perhaps they are approaching an airport). Air traffic controllers may then request pilots to turn the transponders off or to standby. Also, if the transponder is sending faulty information, the pilot might want to turn it off. Planes are still visible on primary radar until they get below the radar's coverage ability."

Missing Airplane Flew On for Hours
Engine Data Suggest Malaysia Flight Was Airborne Long After Radar Disappearance, U.S. Investigators Say

WSJ has issued a correction, the data was not from engine.

The Wall Street Journal confirms its report that U.S. investigators suspect Malaysia Airlines Flight 370 stayed in the air for up to four hours past the time it reached its last confirmed location. The Journal has since learned, however, that this belief is based on an analysis of signals sent through the Boeing 777’s satellite-communication link, and not from data sent by the plane’s Rolls-Royce engines to Rolls Royce, as was earlier incorrectly reported. Our report has been corrected.

Re: Malaysia Airlines Plane is Missing

Newest info from CNN claimed that the Malay admitted signals from te plane pinged on for hours as it headed into Indian Ocean. Let's see where things are going now..
And this also made sense to why all we had been digging up was garbage in te SE Asian waters

Really? CNN got to know that before the daily press briefing by the Malaysian officials?

Assuming that any of the recent previous has any truth in it (bearing in mind the diet of rubbish from the media to date) the next question must be as to whether there was anyone politically important on the plane?

What has taken so long, 6 days! , for Boeing or the investigators to reveal this vital information? I'm sure the investigators should have access to the satellite-communication link right from the time the aircraft was reported missing, and they should relay this information immediately to the Malaysian authorities.

'Seismic Event' Close to Missing Jet Path: China Scientists
BEIJING - A “seismic event” consistent with an airplane crash has been detected on the sea floor close to where the missing Malaysia Airlines jet lost contact with air traffic control on Saturday, Chinese scientists said Friday.

The signal detected by two stations in Malaysia appeared to indicate that a small tremor occurred on the floor of the sea at 2:55 a.m. about 95 miles south of Vietnam, the scientists said in a statement posted on the website of the University of Science and Technology of China.

"It was a non-seismic zone, therefore judging from the time and location of the event, it might be related to the missing MH370 flight," said the statement. “If it was indeed an airplane crashing into the sea, the seismic wave strength indicated that the crash process was catastrophic.”

The area where the tremor was detected about 70 miles from where the Boeing 777 was last heard from, and 85 minutes after the jet carrying 239 people lost contact, according to South China Morning Post newspaper.

A map of a “seismic event” consistent with an airplane crash on the sea floor close to where missing Malaysia Airlines jet lost contact with air traffic control was released by Chinese scientists on Friday. The black star indicates where the plane lost contact, the red star where the event was detected and the blue triangles show the locations of seismic monitors. The black waves on the bottom right of the map show recording of the tremors.
Satellite images from China on Wednesday appeared to show possible crash debris but it later emerged that a search of the area had found no sign of the plane, and Malaysia officials said the pictures had been released by "mistake."

China is known to be impatient over the lack of progress in the investigation.

There has been no trace of the jet or sign of wreckage despite a search by the navies and military aircraft of more than a dozen countries across Southeast Asia.

On Thursday, the White House said that an additional search area for the missing flight may be opened in the Indian Ocean, significantly broadening the potential location of the plane.

This is not good news at all. Honestly after so many hopes and corrections, I don't even know to believe in this or not, especially earlier we had someone unauthorized from the same agency spilling unauthorized messages.

The 2 things I have to say at this time:

1. I feel more and more bad for the family with the passing day, and even starting to find myself slightly caught on this with a bit of personal level to it too. This is mainly because the news had been going on for so long, and the search days is racking up. I know for a fact that if this takes too long, eventually all the agencies may literally give up the search and then this goes in history as a mystery disappearance, which I seriously hate to see.

2. With each passing day, chances for proper forensic investigations and conditions of all (in)organic evidence and autopsy becomes harder.
