I don't hear no "FREE KASHMIR FREE PUNJAB"
When Tarek el-Tayeb Mohamed Bouazizi, a Tunisian street vendor died by setting himself on fire in 2011 due to abuse of power by Tunisian officials, the Arab Spring started.

When god knows how many Indian farmers committed suicide due to abusive policies enacted by the Indian government, nothing happens. Instead we get more #StopChinaNotFarmers. That is India and the Free World.

Indian media is crying like babies on building of a village by China in South Tibet..whats the big deal?
It is a big deal for the Indian govt and the Jai Hind crowds. Because to them, India has a rightful claim to all of South Tibet (and sometimes all of Tibet). If China builds a village there, it's creating facts on the ground. With no regards to India's feelings. It is basically China giving the middle finger to India's territorial claims.

India cannot possible hope to out-build China. Hence, the only way for India to assert its claim without any ambiguity is through war. And war with China is a really, really bad idea. So that leaves India with no choice but to b*tch about it to the high heavens.

On this matter of the village, here's the latest:

"China's position on the east sector of the China-India boundary, or Zangnan region (the southern part of China's Tibet), is consistent and clear. We have never recognised the so-called Arunachal Pradesh illegally established on the Chinese territory, China's normal construction on its own territory is entirely a matter of sovereignty."

One thing you have to keep in mind regarding military expenditure is the expenditure breakdown, or where the money goes. As stated many times in this thread, a fairly significant portion of the Indian military budget goes towards pensions and since most of their arms are imported, they have to pay more for foreign acquisition.
True, but Indian military has to deal only with China and Paskistan. While China has to deal with the total forces of the Quad, Taiwan, Vietnam even S Korea and other 5-Eyes countries? So 2.5 times larger budget than India is not quite adequate. However China military budget is only using a relative small percentage of its GDP and can be supercharged without much stress to its economy in the foreseeable future.

The difference being that India-Pakistan gets hot from time to time. India has to be on standby on two fronts, which really saps the development of India's military. China only has to pay attention mainly to the Indian border, and it has a much stronger supply chain. Really South Korea isn't going to start even a small-scale conflict with China. Vietnam's not going to do anything to China. The borders with N Korea and Russia are relatively stable for the foreseeable future.

The idea that China is more stressed out militarily than India might not be true. Geopolitically, India faces as much military stress as China.

Chinese military budget might ‘only’ be 2.5 times as large as Indians in US$ terms, but China gets an order of magnitude more value from that budget than India does from its.

But, whenever you bump into Indians on Twitter / fb /Reddit, the only reply you'd ever get is "its the best idea", and they got all salty because Modi don't go full-out war on China.
