Quite the opposite, had China released this video earlier, it would show the world what really happened, helped de-escalate instead of the other way around.

Now I know you're not Indian because even they don't think this. Please show your work on how you came to this conclusion. No it might not start a war if PLA releases casualty figures immediately, but exactly how would it help at all? Decrease tensions? Here the numbers are released, and all we see are their nationalists saying it's false and PLA actually suffered 40+, 60+, 100+ deaths. How would it have been different if it was disclosed immediately?

Currently, Indian nationalists are heavily reactionary, and the Modi regime just happens to pander to this massive subset almost all the time. With this in mind, the consequences of just giving out real-time death updates (which no country should be obligated into doing) would range from 'Negligible' to 'Starting Sino-Indian War 2020'. Probably somewhere close to the middle of this range, which is still making things worse and not better.

If anything, the ones who forced Chinese authorities to keep their mouths shut until now would be the Indian media who were so eager to give out not only their own losses, but also wild claims of their enemy's apparent losses. That's because now there is a guarantee of inflaming the issue by not just also making outrageous claims of IA deaths, but also by officially releasing the PLA's OWN deaths which contradicts IA claims of having to slay scores of PLA.

In fact, given how nothing PLA does is right in your eyes, I'm going to venture a guess and say that's exactly what you would be ranting about IF that was the case: being too impatient to release numbers (even for its own), obviously looking to add fuel to the fire, clearly not looking to ease tensions, etc.

In case people haven't been paying attention, Galwan Valley related topics has been trending on Chinese social media sites ever since the military published the names and photos of the KIA PLA soldiers. The outpouring of anger and grief was only matched by the death of Dr Li Wenliang around this time last year, and last year people were talking about a Chernobyl moment for China. What difference a year makes.

I'm not really into celebrities but as a Beijinger I do have a soft spot for Beijing girls so I follow some of my hometown celebrities on Weibo and they didn't disappoint:

Chinese censors really should allow filmmakers to make a 1962 film for next year's anniversary.

I don't think the Chinese directors are up to the challenge of making the Jawans look formidable. If they make the movie exactly as it happened in history, moviegoers will decry details of 3 PLA soldiers capturing an entire Indian artillery brigade as "unrealistic".

PLA just don't understand how to operate in a modern society. THEY JUST DON'T GET IT.

And they got no deterrent.

For those PLA cheerleaders, you want to play bet with me? Superpower 2020 will come back and bite you again.

NO DETERRENT! God damn it.

This border issue has become a safety valve for India's internal politics. You would think it should be otherwise. What a joke.

As of now, the June clashes have been the ONLY incident that actually resulted in fatalities since 1975. As such, there is NO FACTUAL BASIS in stating that PLA has no deterrent when this incident could just as easily be the deterrent itself. What you are expressing now is reasonable if, and only if, it is in fact the case that it does happen AND the PLA lets them off in the same way. But only until that day comes, stop pretending you know more than the authorities dealing with the situation, who actually have all the facts and the job of making informed decisions bases off those facts. You are no less clueless than the rest of us are here

I think it is evident that the calls for war immediately after Galwan were strongest from the Indian military precisely because they knew the truth in terms of who won and what the casualties were on each side.

Two questions:
1. Has there been an agreement for disengagement elsewhere on the border (especially Depsang)
2. If not, how will the release of this information of casualties impact that negotiation. (I think I know the answer. PLA is not interested in negotiating)
