So apparently, this is India's 'world-class gear' for surviving in -30, -40C. No gloves, no face masks. Looks like the jacket came from H&M. No facial protection. The Chinese soldiers wear Russian ushanka hats, and on top of the hats are another layer of protection. The Indians look like they're wearing WWII helmets....

PLA should just send daily drone patrols, it's too damn cold.

Hi Hendrik_2000,

When this pandemic is over, I'll try and organize a 4 days and 3 nights vacation package tour, any members here want to join feel free to email me.... ;) ;) ;) . Joking aside I had been to Tibet twice and both trip is uneventful, suffered from altitude sickness on day 3 of the 8 day tour and had to cancel Shigatse portion and fly back to Xiamen to recuperate. Lesson the fitter you are the chance of getting sick is high need to moderate what you eat and limit your activity( the problem you need to walk a lot when visiting Potala palace), also need to acclimatize for 2 days in Xining instead of direct trip from Xiamen to Lhasa.
Let me know when you're going. Xining is a good stop to acclimatize. There is great lamb meat restaurants (lots of lambs roaming). Also Qinghai Lake is great for sightseeing, it's the biggest lake in China and can be done with day trip from Xining. But actually if you want to play water sports at the lake, probably need to stay at lakefront hotel. The lake area itself is very isolated, to the west is no civilization. But very very nice people. Now they're even building subway in Xining, last time I was there no such thing. So wonderful.

Hi Crang,

To tell you the truth I don't want to go back :( :( , Namtso lake and Basum lake in Tibet is spectacular but compare to MIRROR LAKE in JUIZHAIGO Sichuan Wooah!!! It's heaven on earth. Twice is enough, China is so large and big that there are so many places to go, My favorite aside from SIchuan province, is Yunnan especially Lijiang the old town.

Qinghai is next on the itinerary, without this pandemic I'll be vacationing there with my group this September.:(

Where do you want to go? That's why China didn't need to colonize, cos there is already paradise in China :D and Chinese cuisine is the best in the world, too much to try out in one life.

Hi Crang,

Usually in Dec and Jan it's Harbin, Beijing and Jilin (for those who want to experience a winter fantasy tree full of RIMES) for clients who want to experience an affordable snowy holiday, but me and my wife always organize a European vacation, that's where the money is ;) .

No they shouldn't just send drones. The whole point is exposing soldiers to the cold in order to acclimatize them. After all, these soldiers are likely to fight in these weather conditions should war erupt so why should they not do daily patrols?
Hi Figaro,

And India is not stupid enough to start a war, from what I gathered, Modi has misjudge Xi badly, He thought that PLA will withdraw to it's winter quarter far away from the border, just like in Doklam. It had become a war of attrition, Xi and his PLA commanders had correctly identify the Indian weakness and had gone for the jugular. Modi had become a victim of its own propaganda and can't extricate himself without losing face.
