Most Chinese I know still worship the iOverpricedGarbage. The ones I know are desperate for the 12 despite not even coming with an adapter/charger. If there are Chinese that have began shunning Apple, they are WAY too far and few between. The Chinese wealthy and middle classes are still all about face and status symbols. It's quite pathetic. The journey is long before Chinese can be like Koreans and Japanese when it comes to how they spend their money.
China single handedly supports roughly 40% of the entire European luxury goods market between cars, fashion, jewellery, and foods. It's really demoralising how desperate Chinese still are to financially support the people who hate them and wish to destroy them. Sometimes I feel Chinese are just born suckers and doomed to be that bottom feeder. I guess it's partly because Chinese generally don't expect much from life and can deal with adversity more than any other nationality. The recently wealthy Chinese are just glad they're getting a moment in the sun. The westerners will bitch and moan loudly about the slightest little upset. 会哭的孩子有奶吃 and Chinese just don't know how to stand up for themselves.
If Apple ever shifts most component sourcing to outside China and at the moment the vast majority of it is sourced from Chinese businesses, then the CCP may decide what to do with Apple. It can kill Apple with one decision if Apple's own shit management and pathetic competitiveness won't kill it. At the moment, Apple just gives China way too much profit with the only threat being iOS "dependency" by many consumers. Those consumers are usually tech illiterate artistic designer types anyway so no loss.
Apple themselves understand truly how dependent they are not just technically but financially on China. They are looking for alternatives but they understand those alternative paths accelerate their decline because it'll reduce their quality, reduce their technical competitiveness, and increase their prices. This is the reality of trade equilibrium and free markets. The morons who debated us about the trade war 2 years ago have been proven wrong for the entire length of the trade war even before Covid.

I don't have any family in china using iPhone since iPhone 8 came out I think. Most switched to Chinese brands when the technology caught up/beat apple.
Sadly the younger people I know are all brand snobs/ Apple worshippers who insist it is all because iOS is really better and totally not because they like flashing that logo. These types also always have a room full of $500 shoes and logo infested European goods. These are males desperately trying to look like Korean boyband idols. If the next generation in China are going to be made up of these men, China will go down a similar path of degeneracy as the west has.

There is a shift happening because of the pandemic, Premium brand are having a hard time right now, Practically triumph over luxury.
This is way off topic, but I'm just to throw in my 2 cents. As of now, that issue is more or less an education issue. You got to remember that the Chinese got screwed over by the Cultural Revolution. No matter how good one is in STEM, if one doesn't have proper cultural and historical education (like analyses, debates, and things of that sort + memorization), the type of mentality you are talking about will always be prevalent.
