I wouldn't be all that sure.

The coming economic outlook for Japan really isn't looking all that good, but let's wait and see I suppose.
Inflation and depreciating yen has put a huge pin in Japanese procurement plans. A lot of programs are being cancelled or cut in half. It's hard to say how that would impact this program but I wager they will try to protect it just like they tried to protect plans to buy US missiles.

I would expect that to lead to cuts in expensive weapons imports like the F-35. But I kind of doubt they would cut a program of a ship that is made in Japan.

As our fellow user probably doesn't know (or blatant lies, whatever) that in the coming years few new projects will be funded:
  • 10 ships of the new 1,900 tons class patrol ships
  • 14,500 tons supply ship
  • 12 (it started at 10 - Mogami class was projected to be 22 ships) new improved Mogami class frigates (a tad bigger then Takanami and second Murasame class destroyers)
  • 2 of those big AEGIS equipped destroyers
And of course they will continue to produce submarines at the normal pace.

Just to paint the overall landscape for those who don't know.

Their build rate on these ships is kind of insane. And they are pretty good ships. Even if they do look wonky.
Well, despite all the talk, Japan is still a credible advanced economic, technological and military power. Its quite interesting that almost all China's east Asian neighbours rivals are quite advanced with strong economically. Guess it's complicates things since adding the US presence makes it even more so.

While I wait for the list of cancelled Japanese military projects due to dire fiscal situation (probably it will take as much time as getting my hands on Russian military handbooks that other users read for breakfast) I'll post few new additions to the JMSDF.
Kaga is back to the sea trials after remodeling. Soon we should see her works together with the new air wing - we should call her an aircraft carrier now probably
Launching ceremony of the 7th Mogami class frigate, Niyodo
Launching ceremony of the 8th Mogami class frigate will be held on 14th November
New Taigei class submarine, Raigei, launched in Kobe
Although JMSDF slows down with mine countermeasures specific warships new large minesweeper of Awaji class, Noumi, had been launched
