Re: New Generation Fighter

There is nothing weird for the plane to be alone on the runway if it going to take-off.

if the image is real, the aircraft is going to take-off or is it just doing some engine test on the runway?

I'd say an engine test or a taxi trial. It probably won't fly for at least a few more months.

Re: New Generation Fighter

thing is i dont see any support personal around the plane. you would expect that a plane of such importance would have lots of people around it even when its doing a taxi run. im sure we've all seen images of planes doing taxi tests with support vehicles along side. its just really odd to see a prototype sitting all alone by itself on the runway.
Like tch1972 said, it could be about to take off or is performing taxi runs. Also we don't know if there were any gatherings of people off the runway when this picture (again, if it's real) was taken.

While I would like to think it's real, I doubt it is. It would be taken off the chinese internet if it was real (it's still floating on sinamilitary's front page), and most chinese fighter prototypes aren't such a perfect yellow colour. Remember the J-10B? When it first came out it's airframe was made up of varying different shades of yellow and even some green.
This picture just gets more fishy the more I think about it, when the real thing comes out i think we'll all have a laugh at this picture.

Re: New Generation Fighter

What does everyone here make of this image? It appears to show a J-8 II at the bottom, then two old J-6s; then at the top is what appears to be the J-11 series. But curiously it's missing it's horizontal tailplane. The image was also seen on the same web site that had the JXX sat-photo. It is suppose to be an image of the Shenyang Airport where SAC 601 is located.

Hmmm ... IMO it - not the XXJ-one - looks more like JH-7 without tail and everything down on the wings ...

Regading the XXj-one ... I really don't kow what to think ... IMO it looks too good to be real esp. the argument about being only in one-yellow.

Re: New Generation Fighter

I just find the photo so perfectly time. Taken while the aircraft is line-up with the runway.

I mean being private pilot myself, the final pre take-off checks are done at the holding area (in the photo it on the left). Once we enter the runway, we should start the take-off roll immediately. Then again this is a test plane, so there might be a different procedure as I don't expect any air traffic to be active at this point.

On the whole I will just take this photo with a pinch of salt as it seems like the plane parking on the runway rather than doing any engine test or it is going to take-off. I see no sign of fume emitting from the engines.

I agree with people here saying that this is a PS job. It would be weird for the chinese to expose a craft like this to satelites

And don't they usually use a different primer to indicate composite materials? I'm quite sure they would put SOME composite parts on this jet. The timing of the shot strikes me as highly unlikely (or extremely lucky) as well.

One way to confirm whether it's fake or not is to find an image that looks exactly like that runway down to the vegetation. If they pulled this image from any map program we would know. That said, what are the coordinates for that runway?

Unfortunately, after examining the image very closely and comparing it to an image on google earth, it appears to be a PS. The two images of the runway are just too similar, more so than a previous comparison with a smaller magnification google maps image.

I have a suspicious attitude to this photo because of the following reason. If it was taken by an U.S spy sat, why first showed up in a Chinese BBS?
