Oh, okay; now I understand you Centrist - thanks. However, what I do not understand is why do some people do photoshop with an aircraft such as the Chinese JXX? What is there to be gained by them doing such things? To me it is a waste of time and effort. Because when the real aircraft emerges, it only makes the person that did the photoshop look foolish at best.

If the photo is real, then it is definitely the CAC J-13, not the J-14. However, the J-13 and J-14 will serve alongside.

Because, like we expected, the J-13 has:
- Side intakes (clearly seen on this photo) (The J-14 has under-chin intakes)
- Tri-plane design (clearly seen on this photo)

... The J-13 and J-14 don't exist, there is only one stealth fighter project that we know of in China and that is the J-XX, now sometimes called the J-20.
I don't know what you mean by "we expected", because the majority of posters in this thread have only expected one stealth fighter and that's not one with a triplane configuration.

That photo (whether it's real or not) shows a tailless delta canard.

What does everyone here make of this image? It appears to show a J-8 II at the bottom, then two old J-6s; then at the top is what appears to be the J-11 series. But curiously it's missing it's horizontal tailplane. The image was also seen on the same web site that had the JXX sat-photo. It is suppose to be an image of the Shenyang Airport where SAC 601 is located.

There is always someone who will do it if he thinks it will be fun. It's a challenge for them to try and fool the fanboys.

To dingyibvs: How do you know the size of the number 20?

What we really need is for someone to find that runway on google maps or something. That way we can verify that the runway exists and is in China.

Re: New Generation Fighter

I found the airport in Chengdu, China on Google Earth. And there is indeed the markings of "20" and other features as in the photo in question. Only thing missing is the aircraft.
The date that Google Earth took the photo was July 22, 2008. So that is no help - well not much. I gave it a try though. However, I was able to count the number and ID of aircraft parked there on the ramp. There were 6 J-10s; 27 J-7s, and one Soaring Eagle prototype UAV.

Re: New Generation Fighter

I found the airport too, the runway is indeed genuine. Also, nearby there is a J-10 in primer only...it is the same color as the J-20, so if it is a fake.

They got the runway right
They got the plane design right
They got the primer right
They didn't forget the shadows.
They even got the size of the plane correct.

I placed the photo onto my own google maps image to give a better perspective.

BTW: Anyone know what the weather in Chengdu is like in winter? Is the surrounding vegetation consistent with what we would expect?

thing is i dont see any support personal around the plane. you would expect that a plane of such importance would have lots of people around it even when its doing a taxi run. im sure we've all seen images of planes doing taxi tests with support vehicles along side. its just really odd to see a prototype sitting all alone by itself on the runway.

I meant that it could be some guy in his basement that took a photo of a model on a fake runway, the blurred it in photoshop to make it look genuine.

Yea, ppl certainly spend a lot of time making those things!

On google maps there's a scale, I used that to measure the size of the number 20, then compared the size of the aircraft to the number to get its length.

Yea, that does seem weird, the plane was just all alone! It's an interesting pic, but I think we all recognize that it's still most likely just some fan art. The way I look at it, one of these days a real one's gotta come out!

There is nothing weird for the plane to be alone on the runway if it going to take-off.

if the image is real, the aircraft is going to take-off or is it just doing some engine test on the runway?
