I found it saved under the designation "" at the date of "Tuesday, ‎30. ‎Dezember ‎2008, ‏‎20:23:02"

Re: New Generation Fighter

My expectation is that the J-XX will likely have a slightly higher amount of composites to its construction compared to the PAK-FA for stealth and weight reduction reasons.

Some Partial info to ponder: Enjoy

All characteristics point to a 5th generation aircraft
Stealthy and highly agile maneuverable
Forward Swept wing
Weapons bay inside fuselage
More than 1/3rd body made with Carbon Fiber Composite material
Large scale use of titanium
Maximum speed 2.2 M
Supersonic Cruise speed without after burner 1.6M
Engines: Two AL-41F Thrust Vectoring engines 196 kn thrust
High TWR
DASS X Band Phased array Radar range 180-240 KM with 24 targets simultaneous tracking
Weapons (Missiles) sprayed with stealth materials

A website about the Rafale's successful performance against the F-16E, Eurofighter, and F-22 at the UAE air competition:
Please, Log in or Register to view URLs content!
. In other similar news, the Rafale clearly beat the Eurofighter in BVR combat and WVR combat. The Rafale held its own against the F-22 (draw).

I have read contrasting news of the same UAE air competition. Some news claim the F-22 flat out dominated the Eurofighter and Rafale in BVR and WVR combat (the F-22 with rookie pilots totally OMG-WTF-pwned senior pilots in the Eurotrash and the smelly frog). Some news claim the Eurofighter did well against the Rafale and held its own against the F-22 (draw).

I wonder why the US Air Force sent the F-22 over there, 'cuz I thought the USAF will not sell the F-22 to the UAE, and the USAF can schedule a DACT with the EU at any time and in more secretive conditions.

My conclusion: Haha, typical military propaganda. So little news, but what leaks out is unreliable. All about being secret and successful!

Can rookie pilots fly F-22 at all? I thought only the most elite pilots get to fly the best toys...

Re: New Generation Fighter

Rookie in terms of flight hours in an F-22. The F-22 pilots apparently had a few hundred hours in the F-22 but the European pilots for the Eurofighter and the Rafale had at least 1,000 hours in their jets. I don't know how true this stuff is, tho. I read completely conflicting info about F-22 vs Eurofighter vs Rafale at a recent air contest over the UAE. I didn't read details of the air contest.

The rules of engagement matter a lot. I have read of F-22 jets losing to F/A-18G jets and hard-to-see T-38 jets because the rules of engagement forced the F-22 jets to fight at a disadvantage (the F-22 was outnumbered, or the F-22 was forced to fight with guns only at a certain speed and altitude, blah, blah, blah).

Re: New Generation Fighter

Senior sources within the air force have confirmed that China's 4th generation fighter in development is not a 4th generation fighter by western standards (ie. not F22/F35 class). What is in development is a evolved form of the current J-10. It is called the "4th generation", because it IS of the 4th generation of fighter aircrafts to be developed/introduced in China.
So this next generation fighter will be China's 4th generation, but it is not the western 4th G fighter that most people believed it to be.

Are you talking about that people's daily article (or whichever news group it was) that came out after air force day when that PLAAF general gave the scoop on the 4th gen fighter?
If you are, I think it's been accepted by most that that article was the PLAAF backtracking because they feared the PLAAF general revealed too much.
I suggest page 15-17 of this thread - welcome to the forum!

Re: New Generation Fighter

I'm talking about an interview from Kanwa. I think it is very likely this aircraft will be an improved J-10 striving to approach the core capabilities of western 4th G fighter. It will be China's 4th "try".

Anything from Kanwa you take with tons of salt. Since when they got access to Chinese airforce.
Coming from Kanwa I am not surprise. For years they have been bad mouthing Chinese .Copycat, etc basically according to Kaanwa Chinese is the most incompetent and clueless Airforce in the world.Compare to Indian airforce China is waaaaay behind . Yet they succeded in mid course shooting of missile Yeah kanwa is sooooo reliable a source
