J-XX, XX is some number we don't know yet. J is a definite the number designation is unknown so lot of people give the unknown as XX. It isn't the designation that is gonna be designated. Its not fanboy. Its like your unknown X and Y variables in calculus functions where they are the unknown designation giving them constants.There are some folks here that claim that the term "JXX" is an invention of the "fanboys". I will have to counter such statements by acknowledging that it was the U.S. Office of Naval Intelligence (ONI) that coined the term "XXJ" and it was from this that the common now-used (and more correct) term of "JXX" is the preferred term. However, the designation J-20 itself has been questioned, but it is based on solid information from Chinese sources. So there is not a "J-14 'JXX' " nor a "J-13 'JXX' " There was an older design from Shenyang for a J-13 but that was eventually cancelled. But the current JXX is designated J-20 by the PLAAF.
