According to the news reports, SecDef Gates is to meet with Hu Jintao this afternoon, so it's kinda like:
"You want openness? There you go."

Now I guess the happiest outside China is Lockheed Martin, it'd help big deal with their F-22A sells pitch.

No chance, the F-22 program is DEAD.

I was in time to wait for the action the other few days but not today!

I notice the J-20 prototype flew with the landing gear down. Does it mean that it's indeed the first flight? You would expect the landing gear to be retracted if they've already done first flight testings.

The other interesting thing is there's not even a trace of black smoke in the engine exhaust!

Usually, unless you need to do something that cannot have the landing gear down, then it stays down during initial testing. You see that even with painted J-11B's testing the WS-10.

Ok, guys, there's a bit more titbits...
1. according to some spectators, some among the crowd brought serious gears (big lens SLR) and the cops on site never intervened, that means in a day or 2 some really nice clear pics will be available.
2. there's been saying J-20 will be on evening news

This looks so awesome it looks like its doing a vertical take off!

Given the future Chinese carrier force requirement, is it possible they produce a VTOL version of J-20?

Nope, I think the F-35 has shown that trying to do too much with one airframe is not a good idea.

Nope they will be using the J-15's on their carriers =)

Having said that, they may have VTOL applied on their future aircrafts. Just not the J-20.
J-20 is designed to operate from airbases and will be used to cover larger surface areas and co-ordinate and direct attacks since it is likely to have more fuel capacity and attack radius compared to their J-10 and J-11.
