... in case maximizing the RCS of a stealth fighter seems counter-intuitive TAHA21, the rationale is to have a detachable device which allows a stealthy aircraft to operate safely in civilian air space in peacetime. That way it is visible to air traffic control radars, but can quickly be returned to a stealthy configuration for combat missions by simply taking off the the luneburg lens.

That's right, also for example in the case of the Zhuhai Airshow, it does indeed "cloak" the actual RCS of the J-20, or any other airframe that it is attached to, as those numbers are top-secret in each of our Air Forces flying 5th Gen aircraft!

Yankeesama claims that the WS-10 used on J-20 is between F-110GE-129 and F-110GE-132 performance wise.

I am expecting another 4 or more new production serials to start rolling out any day, so keep a heads up for new "primer birds"! it could be early or the middle of summer due to corona virus shut downs?

The sole fact that newbuiult j10c have had access to 135 kn russian engine but have since replaced those with ws10 should point to high likelihood that the new ws10 variants match that thrust rate.

Not factoring in motivating reasons for going with domestic though. I can still see PLAAF taking/forced to take 130KN WS-10 variant so long as they are at least close to Al-31 reliability. All things considered, it's still totally possible they are slightly inferior overall to whatever 135KN Russian alternative was.

I always trusted that the WS-10 would make its way to the J-10 as soon as it proved itself reliable enough on J-11B. They wanted 10 years proof. They've got it. Whatever the thrust and overall performance, it certainly cannot be that much worse than the latest and greatest AL-31. It could potentially be a fair bit better but there's no way to determine this based on extrapolation. We can be glad the WS-10 program eventually provided PLAAF with a high thrust turbofan and self dependence.

F110-GE-129 - 29,000 lb thrust class (around 129 kN)
F110-GE-132 - 32,000 lb thrust class (around 142 kN)

Between 129 kN and 142 kN is a very broad range. Any hints to which GE engine the WS-10 is closer to?
there's rumor said 132KN before, which sits right in the range.
