Most of the 205x J-20A prototypes have WS-10C2 installed, so J-20A + WS-10C2 is probably a relatively mature combination that was tested extensively and they could get it into production right away, no extra development cost needed. Consider the upgrades that came with J-20A are quite substantial, it's better to start producing and training early, similar to how the initial J-20s have AL-31.

A new WS-10 variant can still have value as an upgrade option for older J-20s.
That makes the most sense. Then for WS-xx I'm assuming there would be a difference in dimensions. It would be odd to have such upgrades on the newest seen batch of J-20A with 10C2 if production was to switch to say WS-15, necessitating a modified airframe from the 10C2. Production techniques like 3d printing or otherwise would make producing that new batch of J-20A feasible.

Adapting a mount for the WS-10C2 for an airframe designed for the WS-15 shouldn’t be that difficult, especially if the WS-15 is a larger diameter engine. The WS-10C2 could also just be an interim deviation for whatever future WS-10 upgrades are intended for older J-20s and its employment isn’t much of an extra penalty because there will still be significant commonalities even if the C2 and whatever MLU for older J-20s aren’t exactly identical in every aspect.

Which can be translated as:

"The acceleration is rather slow... But thankfully, (Fill-In-The-Blank)"

Isn't the first part of his comment talking about the video of a J-20 with WS-10C taking off on afterburners?

The second part of the comment could simply be a reference to the J-20A, which we already know has the newer WS-10C2 engine.

WS-10C is in service for years. no way he could talk about WS-10C now after hundreds of units are in active service.

most likely he referred to new variant of WS-10.

replying specifically to a video of the J-20 taking off?

He said the acceleration was slow. That's why I assume he's referencing the J-20 (with WS-10C) on the video. The possible comment about newer engines could simply be referencing the WS-10C2 on J-20A.

yeah. fine with this video reference.

but my point is, WS-10C2 are in service at least since 2024. its been 2 years already so why he specifically mentioned now. he maybe awaiting new Engines soon.

But thankfully______

this line could interpret in different ways.
