The one 'weapon' the Chinese don't possess that gives them an edge over the U.S. is 'concurrency', also known as 'acquisition malpractice' per Frank Kendall.

Hi again me ... next try !

If I'm not completely wrong, then the Chinese New Year / Spring Festival holydays this year started on January 31 January 31 and should end on February 6 ... that's today !!??

So, '2011' ... come on ... :p

Sorry Deino, but it will take a few more days for all the folks to get back to Chengdu and get the workflow restarted. The bird will soar soon enough.

Yes ... but at least I can have hope to see that bird sooner than I expected (I thought at first until late February) ... anyway let's try:

- back to work + preparation tomorrow (Friday 07.)
- taxi-test (Saturday 08.)
- check of the data ... (Sunday 02.09. - Monday 10.)

- ready for take off and maiden flight on Thuesday 11.02 ... You see its nearly '2011' mirrored !

As such ... let's hope again.

Sorry pal, but I think the break can be as long as two or three weeks. CNY is bad for the PLA watching business :p

It undoubtedly is - and will remain the most capable manned fighter for quite some time to come. however, I do still think the future is the unmanned strike aircraft.

Well, that's the thing noone knows about - and if someone does, he will either not confirm or simply deny ;)

prototype stealthy drone fighter jet, developed by BAE. And usually the Brits are not the most advanced in jet tech, but a certain country starting with a U and ending with an A. So it's not too far off to suspect the US already has some decent fighter drones available (and I'm not referring to X-47B in this regard).

Anyway, it's off topic and I'll leave it at that.
Drones are not ready for prime time yet in the world of fighter combat. I would say drone technology is at least a generation away before it can take on a human in air to air combat.

Besides there are two types of drones.. a fully autonomous drone with advanced AI and obviously the human piloted one. the problem with human ones is visual and situational awareness. Unless someone can somehow mount a 360 degree camera akin to a human head and eyeball and somehow translate that real time to the guy sitting 10,000 miles away it's going to be very difficult.

<<<<<<<<<<<<<<< MODERATOR'S INSTRUCTIONS >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

Guys, last wanring. More ongoing talk about the F-35 and/or F-22 on this thread will result in suspensions. I gave a warning several posts ago...and the talk kept right on going. No more wanrings will be issued.

I am moving those posts over to the F-35 thread or the F-22 thread.

Unless comparing directly to the J-20 (ie. the canted air intakes) for purposes of discussing the J-20...

KEEP ON TOPIC...THE J-20
