The way you can tell it's PSed for sure is when you find an original pic that it was manipulated from. If you can't find one, then the argument it's PSed loses weight. Unless one has access to take these pictures and then manipulate it themselves. But what are those chances?

modern IRST design primarly to passive tracking of aircraft or even missile ,particulary the missile plume.
But watching History Channel "dog fight" One F-15C pilot fired AIM-7F manage to shoot down iraqi Mig-29 -head-on.surely ,this iraqi Mig-29 fitted with IRST could detect incoming missile plumes and alert the pilot to take evasive action.yet he did not.

btw, I think this is an interesting analysis on one of the photos on why it is PSed. Also, it provides a nice showcasing of where the parts are.

AIM-7F is a radar-guided missile. The Pilot would have gotten a radar-lock warning way before the IRST warning. Keep in mind also that IRST is best at detecting larger IR footprints (larger engine) when the FACING the exhaust of the engine. A small head-on AIM-7F is hard to detect with IRST.

To me Mig-29 being shot down is a matter of several factors: (relatively) less training, lack of AWACS or ground-based RADAR guidance, and perhaps fear. Techinical reason is probably the least concern in that dogfight.

I suspect one of the images are a deliberate PS thanks to the PLA cybercorps. One way to discredit pictures is to float PS pictures among them, so people will regard even the legitimate pictures as PS.

Why post a black and white picture this time around? Is it because this way it's easier to hide a photoshopping effort? Note the slightly different nose cone seen in this picture (black-and-white one) and those of the earlier pictures. I would say the B&W picture is a more convincing effort even though I'm still inclined to think that all of these pictures are photoshopped.

I meant the nose section that also includes the part below the cockpit. The nose section as can be seen in the first B&W picture is slightly bigger, and rounder too, as you would expect on the old J-10.

If I had to guess one I'd probably say the one with the car behind it/one with the wheel bar thingy. It's ESA vent/ECM antennae seems oddly grey compared to the others.
