While the ICJ has done what it can (no matter how ineffective it was) to expose the real danger of genocide in Palestine and try to pressure Israel into adhering to the genocide convention. The ICC on the other hand has been exhibiting blatant double standards in delaying investigations into Israel's crimes which should have been obvious to any one who isn't blind or biased while at the same time expediting the release of arrest warants for Russian officials.

ICC Prosecutor shows clear double standard when dealing with situation in Palestine

Euro-Med Monitor highlighted the dire need for the ICC to treat Israel’s crime of genocide in the Gaza Strip with the highest degree of seriousness, The suspicion of the occurrence of this genocide has already been confirmed by the world’s highest court, the International Court of Justice.

The human rights organisation raised deep concerns about the ICC Prosecutor’s commitment, specifically to the standards of integrity, professionalism, neutrality, independence, non-discrimination, and impartiality, in his work on the case file. Euro-Med Monitor also expressed concerns over the impact of his actions on the ICC’s ability to carry out fair, efficient, and timely investigations and trials, to achieve complete justice for the victims of Palestine, and to hold accountable and prosecute those who have committed international crimes.

Perpetrators in the Occupied Palestinian Territory (oPt) continue to act with complete historical immunity from punishment or accountability from any party, and the international community as a whole has failed over the years to prove otherwise. According to Euro-Med Monitor, there are evident disparities in the way cases submitted to the ICC are handled, particularly when contrasting the approach taken to address the Palestinian situation with that of the Ukrainian crisis.

The ICC issued arrest warrants yesterday for two Russian officers who are accused of war crimes and crimes against humanity in Ukraine. This brings the total number of arrest warrants the ICC has issued in the case of Ukraine to four. One of these warrants is for Russian President Vladimir Putin, and was issued just a year after the investigation into the situation in Ukraine began—which itself began less than a month after Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine started in 2022.

Euro-Med Monitor is closely monitoring the proceedings of the ICC, which issued the two arrest warrants yesterday against the aforementioned Russian officers on suspicion that they were behind the airbourne military attacks targeting several power generation stations and substations throughout Ukraine. The ICC found that these attacks were deliberate assaults against civilian targets and resulted in excessive collateral damage to civilians and civilian property, in total disregard for the principles of proportionality and military necessity. In accordance with the Rome Statute, the ICC determined that these two acts were war crimes. Taking into consideration the fact that the Statute’s definition of “inhumane acts” constitutes a crime against humanity, the ICC determined that these airstrikes caused significant suffering to Ukrainians.

Israel has not only demolished several power plants in the Gaza Strip, said Euro-Med Monitor, but has also caused extensive damage to over two-thirds of civilian property and objects, including the majority of the Strip’s electrical infrastructure, since the Israeli military assault began. All of this has happened without any justification or regard for international legal principles or regulations.

Euro-Med Monitor contended that the crimes committed by Israel have gone far beyond the destruction of civilian infrastructure and property. These crimes have destroyed the lives of the Gaza Strip’s entire population, effectively annihilating Gazans through acts of genocide including mass and deliberate killing; the deliberate and indiscriminate targeting of civilians, including thousands of women and children; starvation; deprivation of basic materials; forced transfer and displacement; the cutting off of water and electricity; denial of medical treatment; comprehensive illegal blockade; obstruction of relief supplies; the destruction of cultural, historical, and religious objects, as well as of hospitals, none of which are military objectives by any means; arbitrary arrest; enforced disappearance; torture; inhuman treatment; rape; looting of property; and use of prohibited weapons.

Euro-Med Monitor emphasised that, generally, the ICC has dealt with the situation in Palestine from the beginning with repeated and unjustified delays and procrastination. The rights organisation reiterated that the Russian invasion of Ukraine prompted the ICC to open an investigation within less than a month, while it took over six years for the ICC to finally announce the opening of an investigation into the situation in Palestine on 3 March 2021. (This was after the State of Palestine announced on 1 January 2015 that it accepted the Court’s jurisdiction to investigate crimes committed in the Occupied Palestinian Territory, and that it had submitted a referral to the Court to investigate these crimes on 13 June 2014.)

Euro-Med Monitor added that, following Fatou Bensouda’s announcement on 3 March 2021 that an investigation into the State of Palestine would be launched, her tenure as the ICC’s Prosecutor ended abruptly. Three months later, Karim Khan assumed the role of Public Prosecutor. Since then, despite the passage of more than three years since the official announcement that an investigation would begin, and despite the passage of five months since the most serious war crimes, crimes against humanity, and crimes of aggression against the Gaza Strip have been committed in full view of the Court, its Prosecutor, and the entire world, the case file has not seen any significant development.

Euro-Med Monitor further condemned the remarks and actions of the ICC’s Prosecutor, including at his 29 October press conference in Cairo and his visit to Israel to meet with Israeli families, without extending the same courtesy to Palestinian families in the Gaza Strip. Khan was able to visit the West Bank at this time, stated the rights group, and numerous national and international organisations had asked him to meet with Palestinian families in Gaza.

The Public Prosecutor’s language during the conference in Cairo, as well as his statement about his visit to Israel and to Palestine’s West Bank afterwards, as opposed to the Gaza Strip, demonstrates his blatant bias towards the Israeli narrative. This undermines and casts doubt on the credibility of the investigations that should be conducted in the Palestine case in accordance with the standards of impartiality, professionalism, independence, impartiality, and non-discrimination, which are required to be adhered to at all stages of the Court’s work as stipulated in the Rome Statute, the Rules of Procedure and Evidence of the Court, and the Code of Conduct of the Office of the Prosecutor of the Court, under penalty of dismissal. Euro-Med Monitor urged the Prosecutor not to take unfair advantage of his powerful position, particularly with so many lives at stake.

Netanyahu Undergoes Hernia Surgery Amid Mounting Pressure on His Government

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of Israel underwent surgery on Sunday night to treat a hernia, his office said in a statement.

Mr. Netanyahu’s office said early Monday that the surgery was successful, and that the prime minister was recovering and talking with his family.

“Justice Minister Yariv Levin will be temporarily taking over his duties,” the statement said. Mr. Levin is a longtime stalwart in the prime minister’s Likud party.

The Israeli army withdraws from Al-Shifa Medical Complex and its surroundings, west of Gaza, leaving behind massive destruction (photos)

Medical sources said: “The buildings of the Al-Shifa Complex were burned and completely out of service. The extent of the destruction in the complex and the surrounding buildings is very large.”

Press sources from within Al-Shifa revealed that "the people recovered at least 50 bodies from the medical complex."

The Gaza Civil Defense spokesman confirmed that "the occupation forces executed two handcuffed citizens in the complex."

He added: "About 300 martyrs in the Al-Shifa Complex and its surroundings after the withdrawal of the occupation forces."

The IDF basicaly went into the hospital, killed hundreds of people including handcuffed ones, arrested hundreds more including from the hospital staff. Burned the hospital and put it out of service and after the IDF was being targeted for several days around the hospital they withdrew. I wouldn't be surprised if they get forced "confessions" from the hospital staff that they arrested about how the doctors are actually Hamas operatives who were holding the hostages or some sh*t like that.

"Troops have detained more than 900 terror suspects at Shifa Hospital during the raid, according to the IDF, and have killed more than 200 gunmen."

A suicide drone targets an Israeli naval military base in Eilat (videos)

Israeli media announced at dawn on Monday that a suicide drone struck the naval military base in the city of Eilat, in the south of the country, after intercepting a drone in the sky of the city.

According to the media, a fire broke out after sirens sounded in Eilat, as a result of a missile, drone, or interceptor missile, and firefighting teams rushed to the scene.

An RT correspondent reported at dawn today that 4 explosions were heard in the sky of the city of Eilat overlooking the Red Sea, and sirens sounded in the city and its suburbs for fear of drone infiltration.

The corvette in the video looks like a Sa'ar-6. Apparently the suicide drone was launched from Iraq, I guess a Shahed drone.

Okay I think it’s time I jumped in on this topic. Mods feel free to delete this post if you feel it is not relevant enough etc.

My hypothesis is that I would first characterize Netanyahu (and by extension the current actions of Israel to date) as a narcissist. I am not going to address the causes of a narcissist as that is a whole other level of analysis that I am not prepared to do.

There are multiple definitions of what a narcissist is, but the one I would use is, "People with this disorder may lack the ability to understand or care about the feelings of others. But behind this mask of extreme confidence, they are not sure of their self-worth and are easily upset by the slightest criticism."

The ongoing events we are seeing are not merely just lashing out in retaliation but in fact narcissistic rage. The Psychoanalyst Heinz Kohut described this basically as a tremendous explosion, that may come at the slightest provocation or no obvious provocation at all (only a perceived one). Only someone who has experienced the receiving end of this level of fury can truly understand the massively disproportional reaction generated. October 7th 2023 wasn’t just a hit to Israel’s pride, it revealed them to be the weak and vulnerable nation it has always been. The one that is forever fearful that the next pogrom will be the last one, forever seeing enemies at the slightest of perceived (or real) hints. That they are afraid to the core of being revealed to be not as remotely as strong as they portray themselves to everyone. In fairness, being in a dangerous neighbourhood, even being perceived as weak leads to trouble (just pick a country in the Middle East that hasn't been in a recent major war).

The more damage Israel suffers, the far far farther they must go to show that they are strong. A narcissist revealed does all it can do to cover up the moment of weakness. No law or agreement means anything. You cannot reason with a narcissist. They will say anything they want, even the infamous 'word salad' and characterise any counter-actions as being from the abuser. Following the ICJ ruling they have escalated the civilian casualty counts even more apparently. A classic symptom of showing that only they are in control of the situation.

Which leads me on to what I believe the current plan is - to let them self-destruct in a country-level fit of narcissistic rage. The desperate baits thrown out to try and legitimise their actions in Gaza, or at least make them forgotten beneath a larger corpse pile elsewhere. But it isn't working on any of their traditional enemies - Lebanon, Syria, Iran etc. I will give them credit, if my hypothesis is correct, then they know Israel very very very well indeed. They are long accustomed to the tactics that Israel uses.

As with any kind of psychoanalysis, take everything with a truckload of salt.

Israel accused of deadly strike on Iranian consulate in Syria

A very embarasing & dangerous moment for Iran, their consulate was flattened in broad daylight by Israel. There are reports that all the Iranian diplomats in the building are dead. Expect the Iranian response to be similar to their response to the Soleimani assassination, they will fire some missiles at northen Iraq or at Kurdish areas elsewhere.
This is what happens when you show weakness. The enemy will just push more and more.
Edit: another possible response from Iran would be to tell it's allies in Iraq to target the American embassy in Iraq or something.

Would they really just attack the Kurds though? This might be something that could get hezbollah more involved, since they are quite dependent on them for various things. I’ve heard that Syria wants the Golan, but I doubt the SAA is ready to take on Israel, although of course Israel has lost a lot in gaza and has many resources there.

Iran can bombard the Israeli oil fields in the Golan Heights using missiles based in Iran if they wanted to.
