Gaza operation is basically taking a back seat in MSM when compared against the potentially widening conflict in the Middle East. What the US and Iranian proxies get up to will determine whether another big war starts. It does seem that the US is trying their hardest in doing just enough to not start anything, seeing as it's an election year.

Severely injured / permanently disabled personnel is a lifelong liability for it's employer, and a reminder of grief to everyone around him.

If not dead, most surely he will be paralyzed below the spine.

I read that Israel pretty much realized that they are losing too much in invasion so far, and will try to blockade and starve Gaza instead now, forcing people to overthrow Hamas and surrender on their own while they go and fight Hezbollah for some reason. But for this to happen, they also need to take over the Rafah border crossing between Egypt and Gaza. Does anyone know what are the chances of Egypt's military response against Israel if they try that and how would they fare against them today? Egypt seems like it won't allow for Israel to do this so far in rhetoric.

Rafah border is already closed (by Egypt!) with the exception of a limited amount of foreign aid for Gaza and a small amount of Gazans able to escape via bribery.

One of the key reasons for Egypt's refusal to allow Gazans to escape is that they think that Palestinian Gaza will cease to exist with everybody escaping [which is essentially Israel's plan]. That is why Israel also refused to temporarily house the Gazans in [Israeli] Negev Desert.

Egypt appears to be betting on the idea that Gaza won't suffer 2.3 million casualties. But given how barbaric Israel is, with majority of the aid cut off, civilian infrastructure mostly destroyed in Gaza, that 2.3 million may not be off the charts in the long run.

Gaza isn't "functioning" right now - it is in survival mode with scarce resources quickly depleting. Soon, they will begin to die enmasse of starvation and poor health. Kinda similar to how European colonialists in America killed all the bisons - the primary food source of First Nations (Aboriginals).

As of 31 January 2024 , 15 states had announced the suspension of funding to UNRWA. These are: Austria, Estonia, Finland, Germany, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Netherlands, Romania, Sweden, USA, Iceland, UK, Japan, Canada and Australia.
