@supersnoop

Kind of irony because Saddam Iraq was Iran biggest enemy.

I think the American politicians should rebrand their country to United States of Blowback. Is just one self-inflated wound after another.
He was also a threat to Israel. Anybody in the region who develops military too much is a threat to Israel and has to be "reduced" - /Israeli-American logic

Why the resistance fighters don't stick around after shooting the RPG

This probably also answers the question of why the cameramen also turn away quickly. I believe the tanks have a sensor which can detect who is filming with a camera. I read this years ago during the Iraq War, that all cameras have an emission which can be detected by a specific receiver on a tank; something similar to a RF detector.

Saddam had extremely good relations with Arafat's PLO. He also had good relations with Syria. Iraq under the Baath Party sent troops to the Yom Kippur War to fight against Israel's occupation of Palestine. Enough of a reason back then for Israel to take him out.
Of course these people never think of the consequences. Having democratic elections in a country with a Shia majority like Iraq meant they ended up with a country more aligned with Iran.

I thought Saddam and Assad are enemies because Assad is Shia while Saddam and sunni and Assad assisted Iran during Iran Iraq war.
