Infantry Combat Equipment (non-firearm): Vests, Body Armor, NVGs, etc.

General
One more image of the new garrison/work uniform. This time a much needed frontal view. Obviously, the fabric and cut have been noticeably improved. I wonder if there are pockets hidden under the folds across his chest. Also note the addition of name tag. All badges and flags are now sewed-on. The front is now zippered, as opposed to buttoned on the old uniform.

ikr, I think jacket looks great

It is rather functional although I am not sold on the whole mixing of service uniforms and camouflage patterns. Camo to battle, if it has a tie it stays behind. We can clearly see a collar under the General’s jacket.
The Russians make there’s in forest green and that is there non combat “Everyday” uniform.
The same for the Ike jacket. Although it “Could be” worn in battle like the “wooly pully” Sweater it became and alternative top to the service uniform. It was the military equivalent to the jacket it was patterned after a Windbreaker which at the time and today is a trademark although the holder went defunct in the 50s.

Someone should let the PLA know that those are plate carriers, not aprons

Honestly, my expectations for PLAGF infantry equipment were already incredibly low, and yet it still hurts to look at this.

At this point, it'll probably take a dozen or so PLA soldiers dying from hits to the aorta (that should have been stopped by their plates) to change this.

there's no insert, so maybe you can't even wear it that high

That might be the case. Having gone through some previous pictures of the vest, this is the absolute highest I've seen it being worn

Combine that with the PLA likely tossing it at some grunts without bothering to take 30 seconds to explain how to properly wear one and you end up with some clowns looking like they're on the poster for Airborne Blade

They never had this problem with the Type 04, 06, 15, etc, so I don't know why it has to be a problem now. Corruption maybe? Or laziness? Maybe lack of funding? Or maybe the people in charge of procuring/designing the new vests have brain damage?

Its the same old problem, the PLA does not regularly train with such vests so does not have the institutional knowledge built up on how best to use them. For sure someone in the PLA knows the correct usage, but the information is not shared or taught to the grunts.
