Does India manufacture AL-31FP engines for the Su-30 MKI?

Any evidences, official confirmations as to such? What is the level of indigenization? What exactly are the manufacturing licenses for?

I heard from other forums that India does Manufacture of AL-31FP.
Can't take their words for what it is. If so, India ought to have no issues producing its own Engines.

There seems to be a huge gap between the asserted Indian production of AL-31FP and India's failure in producing its own engine for Tejas (GTRE GTX 35VS KAVERI).
Kaveri was a clean sheet design started long before India started license producing AL-31. Seems to me the issue is design flaws, not manufacturing processes.

It was actually metallurgy that hunted the programme.
Sure. But then that would've been solved by their know how of AL-31FP production.

From what I know, Kaveri engine has issues with flame outs and reliability. The fundamental issue plaguing it seems to be design rather than Metallurgy.

It is also surprising that Russia would allow India to manufacture AL-31FP. I'm not sold on that.
What I believe is that Russia supplies the Hot section blades of the engine as well as FADEC of the engine.

Interesting and hopefully it will be finalised this time, but we all know the term "soon" and "could possible be concluded" has a very different meaning in India!

They literally meant soon in this case. And the CCS clearance for the C 295 is also expected before February.

India was able to get a decent marine turbine out of the Kaveri, IIRC.

That's what haunts every powerplant program... the reliable production of superalloy turbine blades

^ This is a harder engineering problem than making a nuclear weapon.

I read about that. What'd qualify as decent would be application of the marine turbine on a platform.

I don't know if Kaveri Marine has been applied on any platform.
