Wow, the size diff between the Rafale and the Flanker is so pronounced. IMHO the Indians have a very good plane in the SU 30 MKI. The Rafale is like a dolled up cougar. They should focus on building more of the LCA than be seduced by the cougar.

very badly writte article
Minor damage to an aircraft on an aircraft carrier is not an unusual thing...particularly as these pilots are just qualified in landing the carrier aboard the Vikramaditya.

People may try and use this as some kind of bad omen...but it is not. It is a part of the process...and a part of the inherent dangers of operating such a carrier.

Modi to start defence tour with INS Vikramaditya
Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s first visit to a military establishment will be a grand show of national power as he is set to visit the newly-acquired INS Vikramaditya aircraft carrier next weekend.
This would be the first visit of a national leader to the largest and most powerful warship of the Indian Navy that made its journey from Russia in December, and would also be the first public display of the aircraft carrier’s capabilities.
Sources said the PM has expressed a desire to visit the ship and the Navy is making arrangements for him to embark with a team over the weekend of June 14-15.
During the visit, Modi will be shown the operational capabilities of the carrier, including take-offs and landings by the MiG 29 K fighters on the ship.
While the final details are being worked out, Modi is expected to be on the warship off the western coast for a few hours. The INS Vikramaditya is the most powerful symbol of India’s military reach and is designed to undertake strike missions across the world. It undertook a non-stop journey from North Russia’s Severodvinsk to Mumbai in November-December last year.Sources said Modi is also likely to visit the eastern and northern borders in the coming weeks. It is believed the Army is already drawing up plans for his visit to the eastern border, with likely areas being discussed. Similarly, plans for a visit to the northern borders are also afoot, but it is not yet clear if the visit will include the Siachen Glacier.
As reported by The Indian Express last week, the INS Vikramaditya is finally battle ready. Navy Chief Admiral Robin Dhowan had said the aircraft carrier is fully operational with an adequate number of pilots now qualified to operate from the floating airfield. He said pilots have been conducting regular flying operations.
Meanwhile, Defence Minister Arun Jaitley’s first visit to a defence establishment too would involve the Navy, as he is scheduled to be in Mumbai on Saturday, where he will visit India’s other operational aircraft carrier, the INS Viraat. Jaitley will also be the chief guest at the commissioning ceremony of the Indian Coast Guard ships Achook and Agrim in Mumbai.

French Pilots Fly IAF Flankers & Floggers, Indian Pilots Take Rafales Up At #Garuda5
We don't know yet if French Air Force chief General Denis Mercier (met him last year) will get behind the stick on an IAF Flanker at Garuda-V, but Livefist can confirm that over the last two days, Armée de l'Air pilots definitely have. At least 2 French pilots have done sorties Su-30 MKI and MiG-27s as well. IAF pilots have been taking spins in the 4 Rafales at Jodhpur as well, sources at the base confirmed.

Fascination about the Su-30 MKI is pervasive. Over the years, I've met scores of pilots in Europe and the US who said they'd do anything to get a chance to take one up. In 2008, Captain Hal Murdock, then commodore at Lemoore Naval Air Station, California told me that he and most of his pilots would give anything to fly a Flanker. A year before that, the USN pilot who flew me in an F/A-18F Super Hornet said he'd fly me again if I hooked him up with a Su-30 sortie.by shiv aroor

NEW DELHI: India on Monday successfully test- fired the 290 km-range BrahMos supersonic anti-ship cruise missile from the country's largest indigenous warship INS Kolkata off the coast of Karwar in Karnataka.

The Mazagon Dockyards Limited-built INS Kolkata is yet to be formally inducted into the Navy and will have the capability to launch 16 BrahMos missiles in one go when it enters operational service.

The missile was test-fired from INS Kolkata, which is a new ship under Project 15-Alpha series, off the coast of Karwar on Monday morning and all the parameters were met during the test, defence officials told PTI here.

INS Kolkata is the first of its class of warships in the country and is undergoing extensive trials before its planned induction into the Navy in July, they said.

The Navy has already deployed BrahMos weapon systems on several of its warships including the Russian-origin Talwar Class vessels.

The missile is expected to be carried by all future destroyers and frigates of the Navy and it is also being developed to be offered to the maritime force for being deployed on submarines, the officials said.

The missile has also been inducted into the Army and the Air Force and is being readied for firing from a Su-30MKI combat aircraft.

The weapon system will also have its land version inducted into the Air Force. The Army has deployed it in both the eastern and the western fronts along the borders with both China and Pakistan.

The Indo-Russian joint venture BrahMos Aerospace has developed several variants of the missile for different kinds of warfare and is now developing a much-faster hypersonic version of the weapon system.
